A dusting of snow grains here this morning but, unlike P.M, a few miles to my north, who posted the stunning pictures of Ac at sunrise, we had thick fog and could see no sky at all.

The fog cleared around 1015 and it's now dry and cold with an increasing sheet of Ac. Current temp' is 0.1c.

Tonight looks wet and windy and tomorrow windy with heavy showers but nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year. Although the area of low pressure approaching from the Atlantic is huge it's aleady well on the way to being fully occluded and the strongest winds will be on its' south western flank about a thousand miles out over the sea.

After a lovely frosty start when I could take the dog out without her or me sinking into the mud the sheep have created, the rain has just arrived. Looking forward to later this week, when it's meant to be drier.

Feels like the end of a long work shift. Only one more to go, then we can go and relax for a bit before things get exciting (if they do).

Damp, murky, miserable. The river here is high and has burst its banks in places.

Anyone care to remind me what daylight looks like? Haven't seen any for a while. Something resembling a frost last night but the murk had arrived by 8am to give us another dank, dark, depressing drizzlefest of a day....

Everywhere around here looks like a swamp. Large areas of standing water that have been there for 3 weeks, drains overflowing, soil you could sink in, leaves churned into a wet pulp. All it needs to turn it back into a landscape is at least 4 days of proper frosty (from dusk till dawn) nights, dry days with LOW HUMIDITY and NO MORE RAIN (snow would be OK) and SUNSHINE. In January surely a spell like this should be possible?

Incredibly heavy rain right now, perhaps the most intense of the winter so far.

Just noticed that too.

Turned very wet out there, looks like coming to an end now though. We can return to endless days of cloud and no weather to speak of. The worst kind, absolutely dreadful. I suspect we will remain to far west for the first potential cold shot that ECM is showing, but it's nice to see that things will be cooling down. Aslong as things are active, I'm happy.

Calm and dry(ish) here now. After a fantastic start with frost and ice, a dank, damp day with heavy rain and gusty winds late afternoon.

Just driven Bridgnorth back to Quarry Bank in some real heavy rain.

Glad to be home and tucked up in bed.

Stay dry everyone, night night x

Temperatures fallen back into single digits since late last night. Will probably stabilise now for a couple of days. May see a frost again by the weekend.

In fact, last nights peak temperature will probably end up as the highest of the week. May even end up as the highest of the month!

A gust of 54 mph at 2147 yesterday evening was the highest of the night.

So far, today has been dry with short sunny intervals and a strong S wind, gusting to 43 mph at times.
