Looking like 2013 may leave us the same way it came in...very wet!

Although on January 1st 2013...we weren't aware of the great things just around the corner. Maybe we aren't right now as well...who knows?!

except for 2nd which was a very wet day, I thought 2013 started mostly dry with high pressure, fairly mild but dry until cold air arrived on the 11th

Genuinely worried about next week now. Recent flashes in the pan could well be just that...

Next week can wait!...... Tornado watch for this evening!!! The main threat will be strong wind gusts, but a few tornadoes are possible too for much of England Posted Image

Actually, you're right, my mistake. December 2012 was very wet but I recall now that there was a change to drier conditions around new year. In fact, there were some very pleasant days early in the month.

That's a rather intense looking squall in Wales right now, here's hoping it maintains life in it by the time it gets here, wind has certainly picked up after a rather calm, pleasant day.

Just bog standard heavy rain in the end, passed through now, all eyes on Monday now, looks rather vicious!

Another day, another squall line............I feel like Bill Murray reaching for his alarm clock every morning in Punxsutawney.

To be fair, TORRO issue a "tornado watch" when a small puff of convective cumulus cloud is forecast.

Those mild yellow upper's for tomorrow make it hard to see if the isobars are less tightly wound than previous runs, considering every pattern we get seems to go on a loop for weeks/even months lately (raw March & April easterlies, high pressure July, weather falling asleep from August - November, stormzilla December) a nice month long north westerly Cheshire Gap streamer is surely the next looping pattern right..right...

Quiet on here! showers today had a wintry flavour, sleet/hail, temp 0.3C now,

not bad for Dec, feel as though I have been lucky and not had much rain, had decent frost 20th, and sleety showers, 19th and 22nd, will likely have to pay for the lack of rain soon mind you

Crazy weather over in the North East US at the minute, some places hovering around -1c under freezing rain then 19c+ 20 miles south, don't think we've ever had a proper freezing rain event here though came close 9th/10th Feb last year when it rained all evening around 0.5c-1.0c then dropped below zero overnight.

Covering of hail here around 1pm, felt chilly in and quite vile in the wind. Wintry though! Charts offering a little more promise tonight, here's hoping.

I can think of two recently- 3rd Jan 2011 which was lethal and completely forecast, and 4th Feb 2012 when everywhere else got the forecast snow.

I've experienced a couple of freezing rain events, albeit a long time ago. Absolutely horrible conditions, you end up feeling like Bambi on ice and can go over at any time. Not recommended.
