Brightening up nicely now and hopefully the rain will stay away until after tea and be gone again by daylight tomorrow.

Once again calm before the storm 5.4c and no cloud cover.  The cloud will be back when we wake tomorrow and the wind will be back.  Looks poor for New Years Eve.

Ea have issued flood alerts aready, taken from ea Heavy rain is forecast overnight from Sunday the 29th December to Monday the 30th December with upto 50 millimeters of rain forecast before midday on monday. River levels are already high and will rise over night tonight and during the course of tomorrow morning.

I myself think this is slightly misleading ive been out and about and all 3 rivers are nesr normal in terms of depth, but I supposed it only takes alittle rain

Went to my local park this afternoon walking my pooch, one tree is down, although the roots still sort of in the ground, and big branches all over the gaff, obviously the result of Fridays storm. The trees are not mature and the ground is really boggy, will be a shame to loose any more, not a lot we can do against such weather conditions

Winds getting up a bit here, and im sure its trying to snow but cant be as its 6.5 degrees. We arent even in the warning area for wind.

Could be a rough day for you guys in the northwest if this came off tomorrow - latest EURO4 output, NAE offers similar solution.

Ok can someone tell me why there isn't a wind warning up on met office for strong winds and heavy rain tomorrow ?

Think the met will issue by 10am today, Could see sustained winds of 60mph -70mph with higher gusts in NW tomorrow lunch time.  Anyone agree?

Because at the time the warning was issued they didnt feel it was warranted for our region

The potential is still there for a short but severe spell of winds across the region this afternoon as a small but nasty looking LP system crosses immediately to our north.

This was showing on some of the charts yesterday evening but at the time the Met O seemed to be having non of it.

However there is a yellow warning over much of our region now for severe gales on the southern flank of this system.

Could get interesting later.

great,more wind and rain. Getting hacked off with this sorry excuse for a winter now.Zip in December and sure as eggs are eggs gona be zip before mid Jan at the earliest.:(

And maybe beyond that but there's nothing we can do about it other than up sticks and move.

Netweather has just put out a weather warning for high winds which, as with the Met O warning puts ourselves in the firing line for this afternoon.

Winds up to 80mph possible over coasts and high ground from this nasty little feature as it crosses west to east.
