Too marginal, to be honest, I doubt my 600ft will be enough for lying snow, higher parts of here and Buxton and other places to the east will though no doubt.

I note GFS is now dragging a pretty intense looking spell of precipitation tomorrow evening across the region hillier parts to get a reasonable dump now i anticipate Fergie will post something along these lines later possibly blizzards for higher places like saddleworth?

Yes the very top of Uppermill by the Church Inn and places like Scouthead will get something, no warnings on met office yet though.

Just got back from Rivington Pike. When I was on top it was very windy, about 50mph up there. I was nearly pushed away up there.

it is getting very lively outside now here.

Latest from met office for next couple of days

This Evening and Tonight:

Remaining very windy. Heavy rain this evening will quickly clear east then blustery showers following. It will turn colder and the showers will become wintry, with sleet and snow likely by morning, especially over high ground. Minimum Temperature 2 °C.

Thursday:

A breezy day with sunshine and showers. Showers will be wintry in nature with snow likely to settle over some higher ground. Feeling colder than of late. Maximum Temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Showers on Friday, these wintry over high ground. Band of rain spreading eastwards later and clearing Saturday. Further showers following through Sunday. Remaining windy with risk of severe gales.

Issued at: 1600 on Wed 18 Dec 2013

So looking good for proper winter weather
