Morning all.

Much chillier this morning at 4.4c and I see we have a few showers creeping across the region so will be interesting to see what falls from them Posted Image

I was woken at 11.30 and around 02.00, the latter to an incredible roaring sound nearby as wind presumably surged through the woodland on the nearby edge of Salisbury Plain.

I checked my weather records last night, my previous 24 hour highest is 47.5mm in August 2011 which means that from 19.00 last night I will have needed 17mm more to set a new record - the result will be known in 45 mins!

Yes Andy, at the time of my original report I was thinking there could be probable tornadic activity due to the shape of the hook on the radar. Likewise, the Poole area I think it was had a similar radar signature at one point. Given what was going on at the time, I didn't want to add to anybody's misery by mentioning tornados etc. Will be curious to hear of other reports. A crazy 24 hours for sure and yet more wind and rain due again before the week is out.

My highest wind gust was a mere 42mph but not bad for me with other gusts within my immediate vicinity likely to have been within the range of 50 to 60mph I imagine. Total storm rainfall was 42.6mm, 34mm of which fell from 0:01am to midnight yesterday. Not my highest day total but up there with the worst storm totals I believe.

A bit late in the morning for this but a quite incredible squall came over us around 11pm last night with very heavy rain and gusty winds. Took out the fence,  the felt from the shed and several other panels and a brick pier attached. Much much more violent weather than the St Judes breeze here in our part of North west Gloucestershire.   Did not see that coming and been clearing up all morning

I might be wrong but the MO don't give as strong wind as yesterday, hoping the rain will fly through a bit quicker I don't think dartmoor can take much more water!!

The warnings have been updated, west coasts are still under a warning but much of our region is under one for rain. They think it won't be as intense as previous storms.

It's currently not forecast to be as intense as what we have just experienced for our region but of course, just a quarter of what we have just had will still add insult to injury.

Looks like they will have to take to water polo instead!

On a more serious note that is a lot of water the amount of rain we have had is scary we could do with a dry spell now!

This is the river Yeo between Sherborne and Yeovil this morning.  The second one is where it has broken its banks in the village of Bradford Abbas.

Minor roads are mainly passable with care as there is a lot of standing water and some trees and big branches down.

We have heavy snow here now!!

Nothing made it inland all day here could do with wind veering more to a westerly to use Bristol channel.

Maybe something xmas day.

NOT having a round 3

The island would not cope thats for sure.

I ventured to work and what normally takes me 20 minutes to get to work took me 1hr 25 mins, roads flooded that never flood, uncountable amount of trees down, still no island trains running due to the railway tunnel at Ryde was completely submerged, Power cables down, holes appearing in roads
