Well it's always been pretty accurate. check it out

http://www.pooleharbourweather.com/weather/

Yeah you're right. I'm wondering whether it is getting funnelled in, increasing the speeds more?

Unlikely as it's facing out over the back harbour, it's usually pretty good at reporting a good blow...

Met Office rainfall projections highlight the two seperate bands of rain well. Firstly we have our current band slowly heading east;

post-12721-0-76304900-1387803715_thumb.jpost-12721-0-07453300-1387803722_thumb.jpost-12721-0-43478600-1387803731_thumb.j

Then we have a lull late afternoon into the evening of just showery bits & pieces;

post-12721-0-22893600-1387803766_thumb.jpost-12721-0-28684200-1387803780_thumb.j

Then we have band number 2 entering our region from late evening onwards, with an embedded squall like feature in it, highlighting the risk of torrential downpours at times tonight;

post-12721-0-94217500-1387803855_thumb.jpost-12721-0-00497600-1387803866_thumb.j

So lots more rainfall to come still. I think we will only realise what affects the rainfall volumes have had on our region by daylight tomorrow.

This is weird too PB, I wonder whether Thatcham is affected by the following report.

http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/78846-severe-atlantic-storms-over-the-christmas-period-2/?p=2871163

Only 6.4mm so far and a top gust of 34mph in my sheltered location but at least I'm thrashing Mapantz's pants for once. Your station's gone dry mate, top it up. Posted Image

Haha! Today is the first time I have seen flooding on the road in Princetown.... The road across the moors is basically a river now, and I keep looking out of the window to see what git is spraying a hose against it, only to see its the rain! Reference this wind, getting out the car was a real effort... The wind closed the door for me whilst I ran out the way to protect my gentlemen's sausage.... And then I nearly got blown over! Bring on the snow tomorrow... Now this is what you call weather!!

Very odd.... mind you I am not at home so don't know. I will only know if the central heating time is out!! :) good thing is the turkey is already defrosting and I will need to defrost some other things anyway later tonight so if it has gone it isn't too bad. Prob is though I don't think the main strength of winds hasn't arrived yet - must say the Henwick Lane weather station is reporting very calm scenario!....Looking out of the office window though in Reading it looks vile out there. Dreading travelling home - may leave earlier me thinks.

The link below is very sobering and it's only set to get worse I'm afraid.

Here's why and I'm sure somebody suggested there was a clearance coming.
