We are up to 85.2mm of rain so far today. Just sounds like a sprinkler is permanently spraying on my window now!!

Yup, as anticipated, a squall like feature is starting to develop and move E within the mass of PPN.

I reckon that "feature" is here right now - wind and rain quite fierce!

Latest EURO4 output tones down snow signal for tomorrow now, limiting it chiefly to Mendips & Wiltshire plateau area;

NAE somewhat differs entirely though, giving Wales the main bulk of wintriness;

I'm not too sure how much we can forecast an event like this though when taking into account how borderline and detailed it is.

Marginal local nuances & environmental conditions along with PPN intensity and evaporative cooling could ultimately swing it one way or another.

Pretty much what Ian said on points west.  To be honest I doubt even mendips and high ground will see much from this except for sleet and a few wet flakes in heavier bursts maybe. Posted Image

Blowing a hoolie and raining hard here in the forest...and the lights keep flickering so I'm expecting a power cut any minute. ..

And that speck happens to be over Princetown! I guess we will see! Very calm here now. A total of 91mm of rain and 52mph highest gust today....

Just had the squall line pass through & that was intense.

Hopefully things will calm down a bit now.

71mph gust down here, 50mph sustained, not much of a rain maker down here, as each squall line dies before it reaches us.

If that had lasted any longer, there would have been serious flooding issues.

Seems to have calmed down a lot know though, with much lighter winds.

Round 1 complete, now for round 2.....

Take your pick, hail snow & rain tomorrow, heavy rain on Friday night Saturday morning, or the gales predicted for Boxing day.

Either way, it ain't going to be settled over the next week or so.

In brighton for a work thing and had to leave early as was very sick... Not a good thing however getting back before the squall line hit makes me feel better! Absolutely awful out there at the mo.. Although am starting not to feel bothered as feel so rough now. Is there a sickness bug going round ATM?

Sorry to say, but I think there is. My Dad was very ill a week or so back.

Thankfully a lot better now though.

The radar is amazing, I have seen a long narrow squall line many times previously but not a broken one like this evening. Power hose rain here for 10 minutes and temperature now dropped back to 8.1c from 9.9c 15 mins ago.

Good god we have had 3.25 inches fall today. 2.5 falling in 3 hours. The drive up to here was intense roads are rivers as the fields canna take it no more. Amazing how just the smallest of dips in roads can make huge flood obstacles.
