Isn't that the predicted gust overlay though?

Yes but it gives you an idea of how it's going to develop. The NMM uses a 6km scale for modelling, quite geographically accurate.

Nothing beats live data. Otherwise it's just an idea of how things may develop. Certainly as far as rainfall goes considering the time scales NMM is still fairly weak in that area. Ahh new high gust 40 mph.

Some very heavy rain with large drops slamming the window, but that's nothing compared to what's on the radar out west. Average wind speed 27mph gusting 42mph which is quite high for my valley station (only the 28th October gave higher this year).

Edit: Gust of 46mph which is the strongest this year. Doesn't sound that strong perhaps but dad had just asked me if the stream was going to flood, and the gust got a 'is the roof gunna stay on?' response from him.

Not far off 70mph gusts up this way with St Bees recording 68mph.

52mph gust 1600 since which if anything worse ones but they seem to have knackered the roof anemometer as not much over 40mph registered since.

Was looking at the radar and rain looks quite nasty down south but not as bad up here (although that could change as the band comes in) which could happen anytime
