Think i have caught a lurgy as i feel flu-like and keep sneezing although quite how is anyone's guess.

seems overcast here today, but calm, can't hear any rain or wind, doesn't feel chilly either.

Long range forecast for my area suggests double figures temperatures for Christmas Day. This will not do!

Blimey, been busy this morning, work is all go today, will be glad when I finish later this afternoon.

Anyone that catches the current round of lurg. I share your pain, it is a snotty cough horror one, and it lingers, been two weeks now, someone I know said it took nigh on five weeks for them to be clear of it.

I have had flu.  Cough still with me 3 weeks after i first fell ill.  Listening to xmas songs on computer at the mo reading post.  Dull outside now started nice and sunny now looks as if it is going to rain wind has picked up too.

Here's hoping some of the charts are right (in my dreams lol) and the weather is going to cool off with some white stuff in the forecast but poss not for me here in my neck of the woods.  But i am hopeful that the new year will bring a good lot of the stuff for me lol.

Yes, saw your post and totally agree with it. Posted Image It seems to me like a subjective cold weather cabal appears on that thread in Winter, who shout down people who post about weather types they don't like, even if the weather type is modelled... My contrary side will then hope for the mildest winter on record, just to pee them off, even if in reality I'd like a decent snowfall / winter wonderland scenario too. :)

Oh well!

I posted a few days ago that "rant and rave all you want, believe/don't believe the forecasts etc but one thing is for sure, the weather will do as it pleases and there is sweet FA you can do about it", so why get so upset and wound up over it?

Going to be honest, with the UKMO output this afternoon, I've thrown in the towel for a white Christmas. I know it's still 10/11 days away but I see very little to suggest a change in the longwave pattern. The chances of severe gales or even storm force winds and heavy rain look quite high.

I remember it being stormy from early to mid December in 1962 with no end in sight, 10 days later parts of England were buried in snow.

Looking at the actual surface winds, mean winds of 50-65mph, with gusts of up to 90mph.

Anyone watching the Nelson Mandela program on BBC2? there is a potent thunderstorm taking place outside the studio they are broadcasting live from.
