Don't get the winter is over comments in the model thread.

How can something that never began be over?

Oh what I'd give for a northern toppler!

Been away for a few days and guess what ? Same old charts from day to day for the next couple of weeks with even the dreaded Bartlett high putting in an appearance.

What an awful winter.

In fact, all we've had this season is a colder summer, not a winter.

Don't think we've had one single sniff of a northerly at all yet this Winter, which in its own rights is rather strange? Not saying we won't just another observation of this topsy-turvey weather of late.

Definitely strange! This 'winter' so far has been odd as we have not seen any wintry weather bar the odd foggy day or night frost, that's been it. Seems our climate has changed to one that gives the same weather for a month or two at a time, then something different for another month or two. You watch, once this wet spell changes, it won't rain for 3 months lol and there'll be drought warnings! Still over 4 weeks to go of winter proper so I'm not giving up hope just yet.

By the look of the charts for February we need to take a break for more than a week.

It really looks like being one of the wettest and mildest winters on record!

Ok, so i'm weeping into my tea-cup, at the lack of snow prospects

U.S.A have stolen it all - and ramped up the atlantic storms

Can always do some lamp-post watching. Lucky SOB's

I blame the cold in north america for the mild winter we have. Without the cold and snow in the US we would've expecting cold and snow by now, if not already.

Er, isn't this the moaning thread?

Maybe but if you take a break from moaning you might feel a little better!

Better to get it off your chest as far as I'm concerned. It always feels cathartic.

I have given my all this winter, heart and soul into the quest for a cold spell and I will keep looking, yes I get carried away sometimes because of my love of wintry model charts in winter, it's been hard to stomach the last 8 weeks. The far north east gets a wintry snap in the next day or so with sub 528 dam encroaching from the east but most of us will miss it. There is good agreement for a return of very disturbed weather from friday onwards with more heavy rain and damaging winds, continuing next week and possibly beyond.

Look on the bright side, at least we'll all be battle hardened for next winters model watching!

After this winters washout (literallly) i don't think i will even bother model watching next winter.  Too depressing and usually a let down.

It does seem like a waste of emotional energy

what about all the other forecasters who predicted a colder and drier than average winter and especially the ones who forecast a mild start to winter but then becoming much colder by mid January?  I could forecast that kind of forecast without even glancing at any charts, the sun, stratosphere, etc.   What utter tosh.

I have come to the belief that weather forecasting is about as reliable as fortune telling.  If you allow for so many variables and possible outcomes then one of them has to hit the mark at some point.  It's just all guesswork regardless of what the models and computers are trying to predict.
