I'm on St Marys Island.. no evacuation on my part but some parts of the Island are being evacuated.. I moved here a couple of months ago from Canal Road which a friend has confirmed evacuation has begun!

River is high but only just covering the lower river walk path at the moment.. the flood defense wall is some 7 foot so I'm not too worried for this part

Went down to Aldeburgh (seems about 100 odd other people had the same idea!)

Waves are just about hitting the sea wall at the far end. Not as high as 2007 when they were overtopping it. The wind was almost calm. I think that's helped.

Looks like I am going to have to explain getting drunk and telling everyone that I called off the storm by threatening the Goddess Hera.

I am not sure what will happen in the next hour before high tide. All I know is a lot of relatives are going to be mad tomorrow. I said I was proud to be Waffen SS, having Allied relatives, I expect som e diss tomrorrow.

The warnings all around me has been upgraded to severe - Hullbridge, Rochford, and the river Crouch. I'm gonna go for a drive down Southend in a minute to see the tide down there.... the girlfriend thinks I'm mad

Flooding now in Broadstairs too.... much earlier than expected, and the Medway tunnel closed as a precaution.

Have fun! Posted Image

Wish I could go down there, would cost a fortune though!

I'll be in college tomorrow and finish just before high tide, which is meant to be even higher tomorrow. I'll be down there taking pictures ! :)

guys think before you go out

is it safe?

Can see the sea from my house in daylight but being dark its just the sound of the sea and wind I can here at the mo and I must admit to being tempted to go and see what it is like. I would not be at sea level but higher up and not exposed to any risk but being a risk assessment writer I would take as many precautions as possible.

Boat teams deployed

Jaywick & Maldon05/12/2013 @ 23:30Incident Number: 000000000

Ten boat teams have been deployed in Jaywick, alongside Gloucestershire and Hereford and Worcester fire crews, ECFRS' own Urban Search and Rescue teams and Police support. They are in position in readiness for storm water breaching sea defences.

Ten appliances are in Maldon to assist Police and military in evacuating homes there after severe flood warnings were declared in that part of the County earlier this evening. And in Manningtree, fire crews are working alongside Police and Ambulance teams evacuating residents.

At 23:56 hrs, crews in Jaywick report that the sea wall has been breached in Hillman Avenue. And in Mill Street by 00:09 hrs water was also coming over the defences.
