I think this is actually going to be worse than expected. This system is developing quicker than expected. Think quite a portion of n.ireland should currently be under amber warning!j not just areas high lighted at the mo. I expect a bit if damage from this to be honest !

Vicious here in Dublin City centre. Swirling, gusting and hammering down rain! My cycle home tonight should be fun!!!

I've finally swum home. On the radio, warning about high winds and surface water (as if I hadn't already found that out, lol). Drains already overflowing, and it's only just started here. There's going to be localised flooding for sure.

Lol he really was getting battered! Just seen the BBC 6.30 forecast there! Showed a serious amount of snow showers coming in overnight and into tomorrow. I expect some flash warnings over the next 24 hours. With the air so unstable anything can happen.

Very strange strong winds for about an hour and now calm with clear sky. Storm can't of passed yet?

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
