Today's Rip Off

Recommended Posts

In Tescos just now i suddenly fancied a water melon. I know septuagenarian losing it , So made a beeline for the fruit and veg.

No melons but they were selling very thin slices, and I mean thin, for £1.25 a slice!!! At a conservative estimate you could get around fifteen slices from a normal size melon. That makes the melon worth £18.75 Posted Image

Talk about daylight robbery. Needless to say i went without.

I suppose you can't really blame Tesco for the ignorant and / or bone idle. D'ya know beer is around 95% water....?

You could always resort to putting sugar on cucumber?

Have you seen the price of cucumbers?

I like them, but buying a whole one is wasteful and the half ones are like your sliced melon (ouch!) bleeding expensive normally.

I must admit that the likes of bags of sliced/diced veg is IMHO lazy shopping as it is for people that do not want to clean and cut stuff up and have it all done ready for them, but that stuff tends to have a shelf life of minutes rather than days/weeks/months if kept properly.

Bit like the silly offers of £1 each or 3 for £5 Posted Image

All that cutting, slicing and wrapping takes all the goodness out of fruit and veg. My nieces friend grows his own veg and it tastes amazing. Yum! :)

I got that wrong, ment to say £5 each or 3 for £5 (and yes they are out there).

And - sad to say - people actually buy them!

Had an espresso in a Coffee House this AM and had to rapidly arrange a second mortgage. Will stick to nespresso in future. Mind they are not cheap either.
