Kinda similar to 09/10 this. The further we got in to November the cooler is got then the models started picking up on the blocking a couple of weeks before it happened. Hopefully it keeps showing on future runs.

Interesting viewing!!! Thanks for sharing. It seems like as in 62/63 and 2010 that the vortex repels the attack of the highs in november and re organises itself only for it to get breached in December. We have seen some stress on the vortex this month yet as its November it repels. Hmm interesting!!!

well all that above average mild and  rainy weather has gone, soon to be kept at bay by an atlantic blocking high..

so..things could develop from there, if we are thinking about really cold weather in the not too distant future.

Yesterday's monthly anomaly not so. Northerlies maybe North eaterlies with LP over Europe. Not that modelling at that range has any clue as to what will happen!

They both look quite similar Gav apart from slightly higher pressure on the Wetter, thing is Wetter seems to make high pressure systems look less compressed than Meteociel, so if it was on Wetter it would look bigger. Plus Metociel overdo's those blue shadings.

Yes, need to compare charts from same site - not worth arguing over something in 'never-never' land anyway.

For a more definitive view, I see we have an excellent tutorial by 'Thundery wintry showers' in the archive.

What is interesting about mild, gray and wet weather?

Weather fans who don't like snow and cold..no such thing in my book.

No it's not. That chart shows it for a specific day in January, namely the 26th, not the month of January.

Edit: That's also not a proper Bartlett.

Looks similar to the one by Thundery Wintry Showers.......LP to the NW and HP to the South of us and a mildish W/SW airflow.....a.k.a Bartlett

No. I'll post more info very briefly with some charts and explanations as on phone atm. But either way, what you've shown is a chart for one day in January, not the month of January, so your statement was false.
