I really hope I see some flurries! Will get me in the mood for Christmas! Otherwise it looks like a sunny day tomorrow!

Anything better than the damp Welsh drizzle lol.

Far from drizzle here. Wind has really picked up since the last lot of rain showers passed through so it's feeling much much colder.

Dry and clear now.

Well spotted! Is that sleet?

2°C here now. So temps have dropped since I got home from work. It was around 5°C then.

Paths are drying now so can't see much in the way of a frost developing for the time being here.

Yes/sleet snow really depends on altitude. Those showers have moved inland further since my post due to a WNW wind but overnight the wind should veer more NW/N allowing a streamer to take place (well thats the theory!). Ive enhanced the colours so you can distinguish more clearly where it is sleeting/snowing!

0.1c here currently, under clear skies. Will warm up a bit if the tail end of any of the showers reaches here, but would probably be a few flakes of snow or sleet. Not enough prospect for me to spend the night lampost watching though. Not too enthusiastic about the next few days, the possibility of wintry showers on Wednesday night remains but uppers not predicted so low now as they were initially predicted.

Incoming - wintry shower action really getting going now - only issue as usual in Wales is will they be strong enough not to get sucked dry by the mountains - but developing nicely right now

as somebody has already mentioned in the model thread - the low barreling south over us on wednesday/thursday - looks very severe and could (even though there's a large warm sector) - produce some interesting surprises

As expected! They should pep up a little past midnight if youre up until then!

Situation for Wednesday night (going by the 18z):

With the low to the east driving a strong northerly, (which may be the main risk for Wednesday) it should also allow for another streamer to occur with those uppers. And with dew points around/below freezing they should have that wintry element to them (snow/sleet). These showers should be driven right inland if it occurs. Definitely one to watch thought!

0 degrees and a hard frost here,I work in a school so it's going to be freezing on the yard, still kids come to school with no coats! Any chance some flurries will work their way down here. I need some colder weather, want to put my xmas decks up but just haven't got that feeling because we've had no cold.

A light sprinkling of snowflakes on the ground here this morning - less than 50% cover though. Current temp -0.2c and rising quite rapidly (as you would expect shortly after sunrise).

Snowing here in Ravenhill Swansea. Started as grouple /hail then got quiet blustery heavy with big flakes. Stopped now great to see it again. All like big kids in the house when seeing it. Even our new kitten was in and out trying to chase the flakes lol.

Snow all gone.  Now a beautiful sunny autumn/winter day - blue skies and fantastic tree plumage.  Bing gone back into chrimbie drawer until the next snowfall.

Lol snefug, same story here really, we had a couple of flurries this morning but it's all melted away now as the temp has reached a balmy 4.2c. Let's hope we get plenty more this winter - bring back Bing!

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
