After a chilly week we should see temps slowly recovering over the weekend and during next week possibly hitting double figures on Wednesday

Temps will fall away at night though with frost and freezing fog with the fog stubborn in places to lift during the day keeping the temps low

5 to 7c is what GFS has overnight

Of course all is going to depend on cloud cover, if its clear then a frost would be odds on if it stayed cloudy then those sort of temps above would be closer to the mark a lot to solve for next week what we do know is we have a good 7 to 10 days minimum of high pressure dominating our weather

Yes I have had an eye on that heavy rain over Darlo now (not what we need after last night's deluge), thankfully high pressure will edge in from tomorrow so rain will be on the way out.

No frost again tonight as it will be too cloudy lows around 4c for the NE

Some wintry stuff on the high ground but rain for most is incoming

was thinking about that but not all people go round the whole site either due to being on phone or just not knowing there way about and I don't feel people should not get to see them due to this when it only takes me a few minutes to put them somewhere that is accessed by most members on the forums especially through a period like this when the models aren't showing very much and its a nice thing for people to look through and not get too downhearted with what we are seeing just now as it shows that first shot doesn't always work and 2 or 3 goes are sometimes necessary.

I saw that I missed out on quite a spectacular hail/thunder/lightning event in the South Shields area, though in inland North Yorkshire evaporative cooling had more of an effect and it got cold enough for a sleety mix of precipitation here with the temperature as low as 2.5C.

Tonight has been one of those "I wish it was a few degrees colder, and the ground wasn't as wet" nights.

At around that time, I'd been thinking, "If only it was January or February!", but then having second thoughts, thinking, "We'd have had a dumping of snow for about three hours and then it would all have been washed away by rain!"

Yad Moss will open tomorrow.http://www.yadmoss.co.uk/

Looks touch and go for how long it will be open

There is a thin cover of snow which will not be pisted as the ground beneath is not sufficiently frozen. Conditions could be marginal and possibly challenging but may give us an entertaining day.

Yep a cold night coming up an early frost looks odds on whether its frosty in the morning will depend on whether cloud rolls in overnight or not

A cloudy day today

Currently 7.2c

Tomorrow looks a much better day with this cloud breaking up to leave a sunny day though it will be cooler than today despite the sunshine

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
