Heavy and persistent rain here now and still more to come by the looks of it. Hope you don't get flooded PiggiePalace, or anyone else for that matter of course. Posted Image

Thanks BB

Me too! - even though I have the necessary supplies ....I really don;t want to be flooded again, full stop.

But.... if the flood defences already installed firstly by myself and secondly an extra  "add-on" in terms of doors by the EA, don;t stand up, it will be karma for the insurance company because they didn't properly handle my last claim so hopefully I will get my wonky floors rectified. Karma is a wonderful thing!

Hope you;re OK where you are and not at risk from this current severe weather.

xxxx

Up to 18mm so far and it's still belting down out there a little bit of wind but not as bad as I was expecting. Looks like the whole of the south east coast is on a flood alert tonight with the high tides. Might have to get the snorkel out to walk the dogs tomorrow.

Up to 20 mm now and still going. I think Coast has left his tap on or something. Oh well his water bill I guess.

The rain was coming down like something out of a black and white movie setting the scene in such a way as to tell the audience that it's raining really hard when we took the dog out tonight. Had to cheat via crossing the roads in such a way the dog didn't spot we were circling back much earlier than usual - despite his initial reluctance to go out when it's raining, once the dog is out, he takes the view that he might as well have a normal walk and just shakes off the water every few minutes. My coat and trousers do not share this ability, hence the walk is an uncleverly disguised short one!

Anyway, in short, it's been raining really hard. Seems a little lighter now.

Same here up to 19mm of rain for the day, 10 of that in the last hour, interestingly, the intensity has peaked at 57mm/hour, still a long way behind a peak at over 80mm/hour I recorded late July. Winds up now as well, gusting at 22, running at 10 - 15mph. Pressure still going down now at 984mb.

The excellent Bognor Regis webcam seems to confirm it was a very high tide along the South Coast tonight, highest I have seen it since viewing that cam. On that note has anyone seen the incredible footage of the waves crashing onto the promenade at Aberystwyth last night ?  I tried to post a link earlier, but it wouldn't work.

Aha, I see the link is now working.

have a look at the wind and pressure charts

the low has not crossed us yet

but at present a direct southerly does not help

it will change soon so keep watching this

I can now go to bed, night night.

Raining in Bexleyheath, nothing out of the ordinary. Is heavier rain expected? And when do the winds arrive?

No worries BJ, I should have posted a link to the cam anyway. Posted Image High Tide was at 10.31pm there but the sea doesn't seem to be retreating much. Fair play to Bognor though, that has to be one of the highest quality live webcams I have seen.

Thanks as always to JP for his hard work and regular updates.

Wind is really picking up here now, hopefully won't get much stronger. Not sounding to different to last week, before the strongests gust got here.
