Should this topic title be changed to 'The storm on the weekend discussion'

Quite wild in the last half hour on the coast of Scarborough this Morning certainly shaking the caravan and keeping me awake

Not too bad up here. Just some lively gusts but Morley has not blown away.

Well the METO are going for a sunny day with a breezy westerly gusting up to 35mph. Rain in the evening.

a very rough guide on the winds last Monday and yesterday for comparison

Monday and there were 15 reports of winds gusting to 70mph or more; yesterday it was 5 for low level areas.

Not a nice experience for those affected but from those reports (Wx Online data) it would seem less severe and less widespread than the strom a week ago.

Never really got going here. Max Gusts 48 mph didn't even move the wheelie bin. Below 50 mph so I wouldn't call it storm here certainly was for other areas but not here. So the wait for the first autumn storm here goes on.

I lost my washing line and it blew over my cast iron chair..but other than that fairly average. I think my elevation makes it seem worse than it is!

Round 3 next weekend?

Posted Image

This would have me worried, classic northerly gale which is never good for the coastline round here, especially if it's high tide.

Southern areas need to watch tonight a lot of rain around and possible strong winds on the coast!

Yep - A large area of PVA/Vortmax moving across southern areas this evening, the rain will intensify, leading to some large totals of rain for much of the south, the radar will certainly look lively. :D

It's an open-mic night at the pub later, it coincides nicely with my walk down. Posted Image

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
