so are we right to think this system is developing deeper or more intense than forecast?

Anyone have any facts to back this up?

Hard to tell at the moment. It looks like it will pass directly over or at least very close to the M6 buoy in the next few hours, once it bottoms out there then we'll know.

Hard to believe ...but pressure at M6 has dropped 8mb between 9 and 11pm ...now 987.1

Wind gusts increasing all the time on the Metoffice maps aswell. 57mph peak shown for Southport earlier, up to 59mph and now showing 61mph.

Up to 63mph for Southport now.

What can the Liverpool/Manchester area expect to experience from this storm? Does anyone currently have any idea?

Metoffice  gust map showing upwards of 60mph for Liverpool. Winds decrease inland but still 50+ MPH showing in places.

Cheers squire. I think this is gaining strength. The satellite is looking impressive, a well organised Storm.

Yes, I think this time tomorrow it'll be a bit blowy out.....

Worth noting that the St Judes storm didn't feature winds much stronger than 60mph inland and that caused a fair bit of disruption with falling trees.

updated fax for 6pm tomorrow

if you have not seen it

Aye, I'm concentrating on the winds 6 hours on from this point as the wrap around occlusion passes through.

This point in proceedings....

Certainly looks impressive on sat. Looks like a vicious swirl out there

If last Monday warranted an amber alert, i'm rather puzzled at the lack of wind warnings at the moment

Feels like the pendulum swung completely the other way

They must have their reasons. Maybe their high resolution models aren't suggestive of anything of note that warrants a warning being issued. Maybe we'll see one tomorrow morning.

Also snow for the mountains in Scotland, lets hope that's a sign of things to come.

Forecast gusts by the Met are increasing here too - significantly. Before, they had 35mph, and now they have 48mph.

Im quite puzzle by the lack of warnings from the Metoffice for this storm. On my website for Wales I have issued a warning for strong winds with the slight possibility of 70mph being reached in South Wales...

Wind gusts forecasts definitely increased here over the last day. Was looking like 45-50mph gusts but now 60mph possibly a little more likely here in Cornwall.
