Wat a day of weather, Severe gusts, heavy rain then one of the most intense hail storms i have ever seen, and then i see a chance of snow tomorrow, certainly not boring as it looked for long time a week or so ago when the mildies were taking delight at a big yellow blob over the uk for the festive period. Intresting times ahead i just hope the jet continues south to give us a white xmas chance.Posted Image

Some clear skies this morning so far and feeling quite cold too. A huge contrast compared to yesterday night's superstorm (was amazing how large some of the rain drops that fell were). Hoping that white fluffy stuff comes for a visit later on today, although have't seen the latest charts. Probably would be too nervous to anyway incase the sleet or snow has been taken away from us (lol).

The Carol Kirkwood forecast on BBC Breakfast this morning had most of the potential snow action around the Welsh Borders region from what I could tell.

Beautifully clear and quiet this morning, what a contrast to twelve hours ago!

Yes every forecast I have seen shows snow in Wales rather than the Midlands.

I'm hopeful that the ground  here will be whitened by a cm or so of snow by  tomorrow morning. Still waiting for the first air frost this month, though last night was close with a min' of 0.4c.

Quite surprised the precipitation's not downgraded to the channel this morning although the NAE still takes the heavy stuff further south, case of radar watching and hoping those dewpoints drop I guess.

NAE mostly shows rain now but BBC still suggesting some wintriness, think it will probably be a case of starting out as all rain with sleet/wet snow level coming down to lower levels in any intense bursts from evaporative cooling.

Shows how desperate we're becoming when we're looking forward to a brief period of wet snow that has no chance of settling

lol very true, but watching snow falling against a backdrop of Christmas decorations is a genuinely beautiful sight, as well as being very rare.

Metoffice predicting icey roads for us early evening (like 7pm)  ?  Seems a bit early in the day for those ?

Mr Benn you really shouldn't worry. I don't think tonight will be too troublesome if at all. Latest models remain similar to last night. Mix of rain sleet and snow with an emphasis on sleet and snow above about 150m in the Black Country, Malvern, Clent, Shropshire and staffordshire hills I'd say.

While stuff falling from the sky won't directly be an issue, icy roads certainly will be. Any PPN that falls could wash away any salt.

A decent chance currently of a few wintry showers or a little back edge wintriness on Christmas Eve. :)

Snow seems to be falling quite readily in Wales now. Only concern is hoping that the ppn can maintain intensity over here.
