Hi all haven't been in here for a while. Been glued to the storm thread!

its been quite windy here all day with some heavy showers earlier on.

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has a feeling of pressure in there ears or am I coming down with something?! Posted Image Posted Image

I felt a bit dizzy and light headed earlier. But that could be tiredness. That BIG BLOB is getting closer. I'm feeling excited and apprehensive as well.

Stay safe, everyone. And good luck. :)

Bit of advice please from those in the know, someone on facebook just messaged me in a right state, her daughter is at Butlins minehead and is staying with friends in a caravan, she is asking me how bad its going to be there, what can I tell her? I know further east is meant to be worse, but SW?

Incredibly windy at Bournemouth and Studland this afternoon, well actually for most of the night, but the chain ferry battled on in the distinctly choppy seas, although the cross-channel ferry services were cancelled. We got sandblasted on Studland beach; the dog took some time emptying his ears and eyes due to his position lower on the ground to catch the full force of the sand whipping across the landscape.

I am gutted to have left the front row seat of the emerging storm in Sandbanks that I feel I could have had, but we decided the sensible option was to return to Surbiton to avoid the risk of traffic chaos tomorrow; although the gusts today gave me some concerns however the journey back was fine. My sister's little girls are a bit nervous at spending tonight in a caravan at Swanage after all the media stories, hope they'll be alright.

Anyway, some pics of the sea this afternoon taken from the chain ferry:

I can't see anyone's locations anymore, on the ipad. I was able to earlier. Wonder if the site has done what it did in winter re heavy use, so the locations switched off?

Looks like locations have been removed from below avatars?

It's to help speed up the forum during busy times :-)

Well, lets see what happens this evening......do we think we will see a red warning on the MET Office site tonight? Or will it be a case of OTT media hype, leading to trains and planes cancelled due to H&S executives kacking themselves at the prospect of getting sued left right and centre if theres a branch on the line etc......

Personally I think its probably going to be somewhere between the two (or just hoping this is the case).

Stay safe all :-)

Evening all from the Principality (no, not the Building Society, that's closed due to predicted adverse weather!)

Gentle rain just started here in North Pembrokeshire, after a blustery day with dramatic seas and surf chasing us up the beaches (we've been to 3) it fell quiet at about 5pm. Just been to get some coal from the outhouse, torch in hand, and there is some movement starting again in the trees, feels like it's going to liven up.

It looks like we are just out of the orange zone, though back home in Reigate is firmly within. Coming to West Wales to escape the wind? That's a new one for me.

At the risk of coming over all responsible, take care guys!

AS
