Trees down in Eastbourne. The Goffs, A259 Friston and A27 blocked near Charleston Farm House. Sussex Police saying reports of trees down on many roads.

No surprise there, the winds are bad. My colleagues will no doubt be rushed off their feet :(

Has the storm actually got stronger than was being predicted last night? And what sort of time would we be expecting the storm to be really kicking off here at Gatwick please?

I am in Brighton, away from the seafront but with enough trees around to create big howling sounds as the gusts happen - I have no idea whether this is full strength or not, I am suspecting not and not liking this much either 2810lollypop

Thats what has suprised me Ruthie, the relentless rain. Must be 5 or 6 hours of it now but the wind is seriously kicking in here now.

now we can see where the low was clearly at 0100

now this is where we wait to see how quick it gets going due to the jet

and how quick it bombs

as it moves north east i see it clearing just to the north of yarmouth

the isobars will really tighten as it moves across the uk

Same here now, wind in bursts, at first thought it was traffic , the night bus or whatever, as our place just off main road behind large wall, but it was whooshing of the trees in the wind! Restless night ahead for all.

this rain is seriously getting concerning

the wind is getting up more now as well

Very much so. There is plenty more to come as well. The batch South West of London is intensifying.

Was expecting to sleep a little longer, but woke up an hour ago by the sound of the rain and wind. Currently have 3 cats trying to get into bed with me! The sound of the wind is horrible and we have had a few really strong gusts here. Can't see much outside as our local council in their infinite wisdom switch the lights off during the night. Not very helpful in this sort of situation. Am getting concerned about just how bad this is going to get.

Hope everyone is staying safe.

Is the worst still to come for the coast in Sussex or is the worst over. I hope the later. :(

Wasn't expecting all this rain at all, it's been heavy non-stop for hours now and the ground is sodden, can't sleep with this wind whistling round the house added to by the rain lashing at the windows....

I don't think it's going to get much worse than it is now for us down along the S.Coast.
