Getting quite a few worrying gusts here near Gatwick.

Got woken by the wind and the dog whimpering.

Is this it or is it going to get worse? Sorry to sound lame but half asleep.

The forecasts seem to be pretty much spot on so far, apart from underestimating the rainfall for some parts of the region. Winds just beginning to gust here now.

Some seriously strong winds for south Lincolnshire, The Wash, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk later this morning.

Where are you getting this from mate? Just from what others are saying?

A lot worse considering the centre is just off the sw of cornwall and with it rapidly developing still as it crosses land the isobars tighten therefore the wind is going to get stronger and stronger. Hope that helps.

hi bluebreezer

seems about right as you say

concern is the pressure charts will now get really squeezed by the low

moving from cornwall north eastwards

the rain seems to have been overlloked due to the wind

A growing area of heavy rain now heading towards London area in a NE direction.....going to be a lot of problems with flooding I suspect with drains getting blocked by all those falling leaves/twigs etc. Especially as its coming down so hard.

hi iceni

thats the thoughts at present

the sting jet is not a certain thing but seriously possible

keep safe

From what direction would the sting jet come from if it happens?

RE Safety: Don't worry. I've arranged things so we don't have to go outside for a week - whether we've got electricity or not. Posted Image

Just been on the bad weather forum and they said the center of the low is just off the north cornwall coast !!!!

That is what I'd like to know - what is the pressure there? As it moves overland, it's supposed to drop further and the storm intensifies. You can doubt the reading but it's been spot on accurate in the past and it's now reading 978mb.

Just looked at a live weather station at whitstable and the wind is a steady 30 mph with gusts of over 40 mph.

Strong gusts here in whitstable just woke me up not persistent though . Little rain . Scared the craapple out of me though that was gust! Edited by Karmamel

Thanks that is quite worrying. I thought it was much further along. No idea what the current pressure is here. Barometer is downstairs and I still half asleep. Rain is relentless. Been watching our powerlines waiting around. Bugga me. An aircraft has just taken off!
