Hubbie just took the huskies out for their nightly run, in his shorts as its so mild, then halfway round his 4 mile circuit the heavens opened, he is back soaked!!!!! huskies are now out in the garden cooling down before coming in for the night - normally they live outside in their big kennel, but not tonight, not risking it.

Why the hell did that boy go out in those conditions

Because he was 14 and thought it was exciting, as many people on here have been talking about!

Raining here and not much wind. Sounds eerily quiet outside!

Not really funny when this is happening in Newhaven! Watch the video and have some respect for the emergency services!

It makes that lifeboat look like a toy in a bath tub! Those boats are big if you have ever stood by one! I know a couple of people who volunteer for the RNLI and those guys have simply unbelievable bravery! Hats off to them, I certainly couldn't do it.

Especially frightening that close to a solid rock groyne! I hope people remember this next time they see a lifeboat collection.

Totally off topic but breaking news........RIP Lou Reed Posted Image

On the very night we may be about to take a  ' Walk on The Wild Side '.

Hello BB, I had a feeling you might post about this.  He sure did live life to the full and made some extraordinary stuff, a really important figure in music.

It's gone quiet here again in North Pembs but noticeably cooler, breath condensing and moving slowly vertically, ie no wind at all.  Strange atmosphere all round - what on earth will the night deliver here?

Well as usual the anticipation turns out to be the most exciting part of this so called storm. Over a week of build up and much like anticipated big snow events they almost never deliver.

Now on to next weekends storm !

according to xc weather there is no storm ?

I may be wrong but I'm pretty certain that XCweather takes it's forecasts from raw GFS output (i.e there is no human input, the data is simply what the GFS shows). These sorts of situations NEED human input. Models are simply a tool and forecasters mix this with their experience to come up with a forecast.

Hmm I think the raw UKMO is probably the closest to the mark with the NAE weakening the storm a touch and shifting it a little south.

Current central pressure is 987mb

Apart from "perfect day" which was the most awful, boring song I've ever heard, it all our ruined christmas music when that tune was played

Note, don't go swimming in rough seas!

Oh and I have respect for the emergency services, not sure why that was brought up!

Why the hell did that boy go out in those conditions

Victor, do you really want to post this sort of stuff?  Dead 14 year olds don't really need to be told off.

What does mb dropping mean

It means the pressure of the low approaching getting deeper

Some rather dark echoes on the radar returns now, plenty of dark red. Heavy Rain could be a major talking issue if the winds *don't* end up as bad as forecasted.

What does mb dropping mean

It is the air pressure measurement 'MB' dropping away as the low pressure deepens in its development currently
