Well, charged up all my fishing headlamps, found the candles, charged up all the laptop batteries in case need to keep the kids entertained during any possible power outages...Just can't decide whether to stay up, or sleep for a bit then get up and head to the coast to see if I can get some good photo's like a couple of weeks back when we had the storm surge!!

and presumably the line of cloud below it marks the jet sream?

Certainly novel to see the genesis of a low pressure centre so near to our shores!Posted Image

will the met office give a red warning??

I still doubt they will, highest Amber maybe.

If they do make some areas a Red, I think it will be Channel Coast Counties. Devon through to Kent

I've added my location to my signature, hope that helps?

Good idea :-) Paul has switched on the turbo boosters now ( for the nw servers not the storm ) so hopefully the forum will keep up to speed during this exceptionally busy period !

Evening peeps

Finished watching country file (and one man and his dog) done the ironing, sorted something to take to work for packup and went out to see what it was like and seems calmer now than this afternoon.

Was very gusty here on the Wharf late this afternoon but now just a gentle breeze and the temp has fallen quite a bit too!

Just been out for a walk with my children.  As its half term and its now dark earlier they wanted to do a night walk, to look for bats, badgers and foxes.  Saw a lot of foxes and that was about it.

On a weather front, the gusts seemed to have picked up slightly, and are now more frequent.  Its also started to rain albeit very lightly....

All this anticipation reminds me of snow events.... Loving it... Stay safe people, and I look forward to reading all the updates...

I think that that is unlikely given recent model ouput. Current warning levels look appropriate to me. Even a hint on observations that this one may veer more easterly than north easterly. No real way to tell apart from observations now. Whatever actually does happen trees are going to come down due to saturated ground even more so because rain will precede the wind and trees in near full leaf.Looka dangerous to be out and about in the SE after midnight.

They have already given the highest amber warning.

Quite possibly.  If the Southern coastal counties do go red, the East Coast counties to Suffolk (possibly Norfolk) may also go red later.

Interesting that Weybourne ( about 12 miles from home ) is getting gusts of 45 mph, my station here only getting to approx 20mph at the moment
