Hi all just going to have some rose wine. Cleared the garden of as much moveable objects I could. Boyfriend wasn't too chuffed when I tried to shove him into the shed with the gazebo!!

It's been blustery at times here this afternoon. Just hope the trees hold!! Got a few huge trees here, some been around many years. Am sure am not the only one concerned about trees coming onto their home, uninvited! Hope everyone has a very good Saturday evening.

A moderately windy day which was bar one light shower dry. Very mild again.

Not overly looking forward to a drive to work on Monday which is situated on a high point of Thanet.

Was looking forward to sharing nice red this eve but I mentioned to the better half that I'd told the insurance company that the 30ft noble fir tree in in our garden was at least 7 metres away from our home - turns out it's less that 6 and now she's really worried. Insurance company closed for the weekend Posted Image  fingers crossed the tree will stay where it's been for the last 30yrs.

Might open an extra bottle of red later Posted Image

Tensions are definatley rising on this forum, I only had a quick scroll through 'other' threads and came across people at each others throats.Nice and docile in this thread though, pretty nice day here with a few gusts of wind.I am just waiting for the UFC to start now, I am expecting to see a few forum members in the prelims tonight lol.

fax chart for 12 oclock

low is a tad further north

the isobars are still very tight so winds will still be very strong at that time

the low between will be somewhere over the north of the midlands

that will be around 6am so thats when the strong winds will start to effect our area

i would suggest keep watching the met office for updates and i will update the fax charts tomorrow morning

also watch that possible hook over the north of the region as that could cause some very heavy rain

tom i think wait for tomorrow morning re this

certainly high wind risk for all the south east from early monday morning

how strong is very hard to call but 70mph plus could be conservative

There is always something I forget to tie down when we get strong winds, I normally discover what that is in an unpleasant fashion the next morning...

Take it the little shift north brings the more damaging winds towards us from the channel JP?

Still, decided to stay home Monday, motorbikes are not designed to fly. :D

Nice and docile in this thread though........

A good point made there Meso. I wouldn't say we are docile though, just a nice friendly bunch.Posted Image

hi ab

that slight north movement has closed the isobars more

keep your eye on the met office to see what their next warning shows

I spent the afternoon strengthening garden fence and gate, putting away anything loose in the garden and picking the rest of the pears on my tree. This afternoon down town I was amazed to hear how many people were talking about the coming storm,I just hope they pay enough attention to actually make sure their gardens are also as safe as possible. No doubt I will end up with neighbours rubbish in my newly tidy garden. LOL. I have candles, new batteries for torches and now plenty of milk, bread and eggs, so I am happy to spend the next day and a half at my computer checking out how the storm develops. Of course if the power goes off then I also have plenty of books to read, hubby will miss his tele though, LOL Posted Image

I want a day off Monday

So I hope it hits early enough Monday and not during my drive to work!

Wonder if we may get painted red by met office warning

Also I got a dynamo orch at pound shop ! :)

Have been known quite regularly to lose power for over 6 hours here lol (in basic storms)

Thought I would say Hi in this forum. I am down on Surrey/Sussex border. I used to be further north in Epsom. I am in a more rural area and we have overhead electricity which is different for me and thus I am paying more attention to this storm.

I am also not scientific with regards weather but willing to learn. Sorry in advance if I ask any stupid questions.

It was interesting, I was talking to my Mum earlier and her sincere view was that the Met Office, having being "caught out" in 1987 always err on the side of caution in these situations and overstate the severity of the event. She is reasonably intelligent and perfectly sensible and I'm sure many others share this thinking but it's a bit worrying that, despite BBC warnings etc, some will take little notice and make some unnecessary journeys on Monday.

Of course, if this turns out to be a non-event us lot might look a bit silly but I'd rather that than be caught out if things turn out as bad or worse than they currently look.
