So... The latest GFS looks interesting! Can someone please interpret the differences between the 12 and 18z so far for me? I understand that the pressure is lower... Therefore higher winds so I guess worse, but what else?!

i know this type of weather can be dangerous but i cant help getting excited. I enjoy extreme weather as long as no1 gets hertt. As long as peeps take heed of warnings there's nothing wrong having extreme weather, it adds to the excitement.

Well unfortunately people are going to have to work through this i for example finish at 2am but i live 2 hours away so that's 4am ne walking around the streets of south west london lol.

errrmmmm.......don't?or be prepared to lose your tent at least

This is the real deal, a tent is not the place to be in these conditions, although better than a sailing boat.......

Jeezus...the 18z GFS is not good news for Southern England for rush hour Monday! Models seem to be bringing the worst winds for Monday mid-morning now rather than sweep through the early hours?

Looking particularly nasty for the SE corner lunchtime Monday if this was to verify...

Tomorrow's runs will be interesting.

I think I would be changing my plans - there is a real risk of these winds coming down to the surface.

This warmth has been worrying me for days. Was cold on Sunday '87 when we visited family, came out of the house a few hours later and was amazed at the warmth. I am no expert but I think the cold/warm air interaction makes things worse?

Still have upto Sunday mornings/mid day output for things to change although certainly if it is showing this then there will be need for concern. I remember the October 2002 storm which looks similar to present. Wasn't actually that bad damage wise.

Where i live has a force field against wind, snow etc, i just see it as its going to be a tad windy where i live, but i have friends and family in illminster worried for them as i think the far south will be most affected.

I'm amazed at how quiet the model thread is duing this time. Is everyone too busy reading the papers? :p

GFS is either good news or bad news. Bad news for the majority of people who have to go to work, and because of the possibility of loss of life and inury, but good news for those nutters who can't wait for see some extreme weather. I'm sat on the fence as to which one of those categories I fall in, but the GFS is making me slightly worried.

I am sure the emergency services would far rather you didn't camp!!!! The very least of your problems will be getting extremely wet as soon as your tent collapses

Well at least the Met Office have ruled out a Sting Jet, that's a plus at least.

I thought Fergie had just said the opposite in a post above ?
