I am on a hill in a caravan in Hastings Fri/Sat/Sun & Mon ! Posted Image

Ooer! Seriously, if it WAS progged to be VERY bad close to the event, in your place I would get B&B for Sunday night! Just keep a good watch on the charts for now, things may calm down a bit.

I live in a house on a (small) hill facing the sea in Hastings!!Posted Image

Ah!  I will be at Coombe Haven so at least it will be a big caravan.  We have a sea view though which I am quite excited about if this happens :)

with the usual disclaimer of course : as long as everyone is safe

No I won't be taping up my windows - but I'll be in the cupboard under the stairs if it's really bad. ..... it's the safest part of the house (and that's where I've stashed the Christmas quality street and bottle of Baileys)

Can I come and hide in your cupboard then?

i knew this would happen

i need a 90 fax chart as the storm has already passed

bugger

maybe better tomorrow night when the ukmo charts are in range

I tend to agree is a pain as front has passed at that point. It does however if you look closely look further northwards, at least a northern track.

Hull is preparing for a deluge on Monday, apparently 60mm could be reached quite easily.

You have plenty of well wishers so that should help youPosted Image

In terms of advice given in a latest post - well those of us that live here can't 'escape' so easily if it got that bad with the conditionsPosted Image  Hopefully that won't be the case...

That one looks like it would give further north a problem too.

Just watched the weather forecast on BBC1. The storm seems on track still.

Unfortunately I forgot to turn off the tv and then saw the loathsome Peter Hitchens on Question Time. I actually quite liked his late brother.

I would be worried if it was like 87'.  We had just bought out first house in Gillingham.  I was woken about 5am in the morning to a loud crashing; this turned out to be our chimney coming down it was so scary and loud I was terrified.  My boyfriend went out the front to check out what was happening and our front door just jammed shut and he couldn't get back in and I was left helpless watching him from inside, dodging tiles from our roof that were just crashing into car roofs etc.  I was worried for my Nan who lived s nearby so drove to her house to make sure she was ok.  On the way a bus shelter flew across the road and we drove around a milk float laying on its side, honestly.  My Nan was fine fortunately and my house was fine as insured, but did have the fire brigade around to cover the roof with tarpaulin (silver lining).  So very serious and frightening stuff! However if you are a roofer then others misery will make your fortunes!

I'm sure as Steve says you will be okay - well certainly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but you might be at the bottom of the hill by Monday - just stay safe and if it looks like it's going to be risky leave a day early if you have to !

Hopefully I will still be at the top the hill...

if you look at ukmo

first the rainfall chart

Posted Image

if you look to our west you can see the low which is the problem

now jet projection

Posted Image

from that i would say the low will head west from there

crossing the uk around the midlands south area and heading north very quickly once it passes the east of the uk

thats why i need the next ukmo chart

so we are not out of the woods i am afraid yet

thanks for the update jp my shooting on Saturday is going to be fun. it will be very sporting as the birds will be moving at a very quick pace and my shooting is a bit rusty. but should be a good day even if I miss everythingPosted Image

maybe a forecast for people who go hunting would be good as it is key to know what direction the wind is blowing when stalking deer or doing a drive on a shoot, just a suggestion.

I guess it's just a country thing but shooting wildlife is not sometheing I would call a sport Posted Image

Trend from the models this evening seems to be to move the low a little further north - more so from EC and UKMO, so we're not out the woods yet.If I wasn't working, I would head down to Newhaven harbour, once the worst has passed, to watch the waves crash against the sea wall with the lighthouse - have caught some good crashing wave shots there one very windy March day about 6 years ago.

Correct me if i am wrong nick.Yes the low has moved a touch further north however if that track stays the same would it not be worser as opposed to the low going further south. Further north this evening places those south of the M4 right in the firing line. Just a tad confused with the we're not out of the woods yet comment?

Tonight's rain. Incoming! Seems the last few radar grabs show the band more together and rather heavy
