OMG!!! What a big surprise! Probably the best storm for ages to even rival summer storms! Turbulent sky's, lots of scud, impressive CG lightning and a couple of thunder claps shook the house like an earthquake and set the car alarms off!! Then wind picked up very quickly with crazy torrential rain! Couldn't go back to sleep so made a cup of tea and have been sitting upstairs watching in awe of Mother Nature! Fantastic Sunday morning surprise! Oh and I'm in Windsor and got the storm pretty much overhead!!!

big batch of storms heading  to London close to the west side of  London should wake a few people  up!!

withing the hour would  not be surprised to hear of parts  flooded  back  edge is very intense

Just got rain so far - getting heavier as I type. I've opened the bedroom windows in the hope I hear a distant rumble or two thrown in for good measure!

Morning all

 

been a damp ole night here but it does show signs of brightening up as the morning progresses, 12.2oC out (nice and cosy inPosted Image  )

Switches between tipping down and plain old rain here.

Netweather forecast says I don't have any rain today so maybe it's a mirage! 

If it is not the super heatwave and sun it may be the extra beer last night?

dry, bright almost sunny here, temp at 14.4.  If the sun does break though could be good, but somehow I doubt it.

 

Looking at the radar, the showers heading our way are losing intensity very quickly

Train services at Watford Junction have apparently been affected by a lightning strike, and as yet unconfirmed reports of a tornado on Hayling Island at around 7.30am this morning.

Thankfully I have managed to miss everything so far as that squall line of storms passed well to my NW - but there are plenty more gathering down to the south west that look to arrive later on. So far, it seems there has been just a few fairly light passing showers - but can the shield hold for the rest of the day?  I would like to be more optimistic than I am.

Saw a few corkers of lightning strikes in your direction earlier on and the thunder was riproaring even here so I can imagine how loud it must have been in Windsor!

Not much apart from rain here in Greenhithe so far this morning,tho just read Nick F`s forcast on the convective thread.....Does that mean it`s a radar watch day today for the S.E?

Gone cloudy again here and the wind has picked up abit too. 14.1oC in the shed.
