Look on the bright side, it would have been far worse if you had slept through the mother of all storms. At least you missed nothing lol.

Very quiet convective wise now for the foreseeable future, aside from a very outside chance of a rumble in the showers that look set to develop across northern and eastern England today (including my area) but the risk is so low its probably not worth even talking about.

Hopefully next summer there will be a huge MCS move up from the continent and affect the entirety of the UK, including all those people who haven't seen a storm in a long time. Although such an event would result in the close-down of the NSC so you would have to weigh up the positives and negatives Posted Image

That was BRILLIANT last night between 00:30AM and 01:30AM!

Best frequency of lightning since 2006 here. most of It was all in the distance to my southwest though but the amount of lightning made it almost look like you were watching a storm chasers video.

There were loads of nice sounding rumbles as well which I recorded on my blu yeti microphone. I'm happy I recorded it with that now.Posted Image

Lightning detected just a few miles NW of York within the last 30 mins. Hoping it can gain intensity as it approaches Tyne & Wear. Very misty here presently making it impossible to see and towering clouds.

I think Colchester was where it died, further North we just had rain

In that case, it must have been out to sea...

Isn't it great when some of the models finally get a thunderstorm right?

30 mins of flashes and bangs here in Eastbourne last night, great stuff!! clapping.gif

(Sorry - quote feature wouldn't work, so I had to Copy & Paste COAST's remark).

Be a miracle in itself if the model for an interesting event leads to this area seeing a thunderstorm. For Guildford 2013 has been as bad as all the other years since 2006, except this year there has either been repeated hope followed by failures with the models proving right for other locations who get their storms while we completely miss them or failure of the model altogether.

This year is worse than others in the 2007~2012 storm-less era, as there has been so much activity elsewhere this year and Guildford has missed out EVERY time.

Wouldn't be so annoying if everywhere had to suffer a rubbish year for thunder activity like in 2010 where there was little activity anywhere and the year was 'boring' rather than 'unfair'.

Lots of inta-cloud last night but no thunder, and only a few spots of rain. Yesterday was an epic fail from my perspective. I've still not had a direct storm hit since 2005. Posted Image

Look like storm season is over now hope next year be a better yearPosted Image

:D I will now go into hibernation mode until the snow arrives, which I should imagine would be far earlier for you than for me. Although I will awake from this hibernation if I get so much of the sweet whiff of any positive storm signals within a "reliable" timeframe.

Just had some sheet lightning and distant rumbles last night as the storm crept up the East Anglia coast. Pretty disappointed given the prospects, and extremely envious of the Kent action. Only had one significant storm this year and that was mostly in the middle of the night!

A line of heavy showers have broken out in a line from Nantwich to Buxton through Congleton, it may have some interest for me or just to my north shortly. Nothing electrical on it, but some intense precipitation by the looks of the radar.
