I have seen a lot of trees losing their leaves recently, bit early isn't it ?

Is it sunshine and temps ??

We have quite a few trees around here that are sheading leaves too. The horse chestnut trees are turning a lovely yellow colour too.

If trees start changing in August, they're probably diseased and/or suffering from drought stress.

Weird... as I've noted on here recently, things seem to be a little late this year. Colour change has only just got underway and there's certainly none falling to speak of.

Well here the leaves are very bright theres lots or oranges and reds and yellows which tbh is uncommon here. It's more of an american thing.

There is more colour and it seems to have started earlier this year, maybe regional variation, maybe the cold March ?

Only the ornamental maples and sycamores have started changing in my bit of inner west London so far.

Maybe. Not sure but it is not normal to have the trees this colour.

Paul's link suggests a drier then average summer, its very mild which according to the link wouldn't be good

Anyway what ever the factors looks good

Many leaves are turning autumn colour here in the Lake District. Some have had very vivid red/ochre colours for a while now, though a number are still green.

I would say its very much average timing.  Trees are responding to the loss of light levels rather than the increasing cold. Autumn colour peaks on average during the last week of October normally once we have seen the first proper frosts. Given the outlook we won't be seeing rapid changes in the next week or two with some very mild nights, but plenty of time yet for that sudden change. Neither does it look like any will fall due to strong winds in the coming days - winds look like staying very light for some while yet.

This autumn has the potential to offer some fantastic colours. Last year was a good one.

The ideal scenario is for a quiet October in the main with plenty of sunshine and little wind followed by a cold frosty spell during the latter third and then a week of chilly dry sunny weather to see the month out and into early Nov - so we can enjoy the colours at there best. Strong winds are the real enemy! Recent years unusually have seen very quiet Octobers with little wind particularly in the last week  which is usually a stormy period.

The only thing I'm noticing here is that a few silver birch's are starting to see their first leaves turn yellow. Other than that, nowt.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
