Have a guess what is happening here in the tropics of Bucks!!! Posted Image[/quote

Is it as anticlimactic there as in W London lol? Not even any decent rain. Looks great for parts of Kent, enjoy!

OMG!!!!!! BLEEEEEEEEEP!

Probably the second best storm since I was a child, the most intense lightning...... HUGE bangs.... Air Pops, Fires in the distance, lightning hitting buildings. I have never turned my computer off EVER and this storm made me do that, just incredible. I hope people got some footage of one of the best storm since 1994 in this area.

Sounds excellent, where are you based? Only rain in North London.

Looks like I was just that little bit to far west. Few rumbles and some rain. Took a drive over the downs and caught some lovely flashes but all over Eastbourne way.

Strong rumbles (the kind that goes from one side of the sky to the other and goes on for ages) plus lightning - just seen a wonderful clear fork across the clouds, no rain yet. Dumping images from camera card to free it up, will pop out to see if I can capture something especially if there is no rain. Looking at radar though rain is practically upon us.

EDIT: can hear the rain so will look out the window instead!

How am I hope casting? Im using sources that are available to try and pin point where this storm is going... I can't predict the future nor can I make a 100% judgment to where that storm is going... Plus there are storms firing all over the place.. I will be surprised if we see nothing

He was hopecasting that the SE coastal strips of Kent and Sussex would get the storms instead of places closer to the Kent/Surrey bordersPosted Image But more seriously it was intended as a prediction (I think) Posted Image  In the event it was almost correct - most of the storms seem to have passed over this wayPosted Image , and although the shield has finally been broken, they have not been anything like the storms of the 2007 to 2009/10 period (yes that long since the last major thunderstorms herePosted Image )

Seems to be mostly just the pitter patter of rain now and soon it will all be good riddancePosted Image Posted Image

All joking aside, glad it wasnt as bad as it looked at one point.

Bad form of Jan and I to let you shoulder all the Brontophobic burden tonight but well played.

Seen another fantastic bolt, direct CG! Would have been amazing on film! However as per usual when resetting the camera to do another shot, the lightning occurs, so not having much success at the moment. Still, it is nice to enjoy a late night storm!

I meant inter-cloud 'sheet' lightning. But very bright.

Well, just reading through a few pages it seems even more like it hasn't been that bad here - plenty of rumbling thunder and flashes of sheet lightning but no overhead strobe-like thunderbolts at all. Maybe they strengthened futher inland

Saw a couple of decent forks, but as tamara said was sheet lightning in this neck of the woods, not complaining as this looked stunning.

Felt like i was in the wrong place tonight from a storm enthusiasts point of view (se13 instead of Fairlight) the radar had me drooling and ranting in equal measure at being in the wrong place!however on closer inspection of the lightning returns and reading your posts Tamara it seems the 'classic' storms moved in over Hythe and up toward Ashford then onto the NE kent coast. Please confirm it was something of a damp squib ;-)

It wasn't hideous (for mePosted Image )..and it wouldn't have been a total damp squib for youPosted Image  But they were slight/barely moderate elevated stormlettes at the most. At least I got my little prediction right about the channel..putting aside personal preferencesPosted Image
