Afternoon all,

And, yep, what a stunner. The pessimist in me feared for the day around 11, when some ominous convective cumulus just developed within minutes, and blocked the sun out for half an hour. But then they moved off, and it has been blue skies and 'nice' cumulus ever since. Made the most of it by planting daffodil bulbs! Good time to do it. Not just because it's a lovely day today, but because the soil is nice and soft after the recent rain. So, anyway, hopefully a blaze of yellow come March.

Currently a very respectable 19.6°, with sunshine and a light breeze. And as a few others have said, I'd rather have THIS in October, than the cold rain we could be seeing towards the end of next week. No problem with it if it wants to be cold and sunny - but cold and wet is just depressing!

Freshers week at uni has drained me, I think I'm alive but I can't be certain.

Just back from Jubilee Country Park with the dogs. such a glorious afternoon.  Blackberry bushes still bursting with fruit, and birds singing their little socks off.

Hello Reef,

Yes very familiar indeed unfortunately! Ben, my son is 19 now though............when will it end??????? Posted Image

If my son is anything to go by, starts to improve very slowly from 21. He's 33 still waiting for it to end! well, he's not that bad really now but took moving in with his GF for it to stop.

Evening all

What a fantastic day today has been, spent the afternoon on the banks of the river colne nr st albans with family and a cool beer, whilst the children fed the ducks after a meal with family and close rellies, and the weather played ball, very warm for the time of year, the sun stayed out, no wind or rain.

And I hope tomorrow will be the same as I have a number of outside jobs to do round the house before the onset of winter and this is my last real chance (and I want to sneak off to a near by reserve and snap some pictures of the lakes/waterfowl and the trees turning to their autumn colours).

This is why I find all the searching for cold weather in October so pointless for our neck of the woods (not just the SE region but the UK as a whole) I would much prefer to see the current warmer pattern persist (much as appeared set barely 36 hrs ago) with the snow cover and cold air nicely gathering over Siberia to give us the fun and games we hope for a couple of months and thereafter down the line. But at this time in October what the fun of 11C with a bleak blowing wind and cold rain is I will never understandPosted Image

I'd rather have sunshine and 17C by day than sunshine and 10C by day and 3C at night anyway - even if the rain stayed away...

Spot on Tamara! Posted Image

hi abruzzi

hope your well

i gave up posting in the mod thread for that reason

hence the mad thread tag Posted Image

much better in here and i can target our area only and not get involved

with the my back yard posts

in my opinion the charts are poor after 120 and after that really only used as guides

gonna fun in the winter in there Posted Image

I have to admit it's been building since September, trying to beat the coldies away with some sort of blunt implement :p

Now the warm spell for next week has gone all Pete Tong then the situation is going to descend into anarchy very soon. Especially with the charts being churned out at the moment. The will it, won't it retrogression is going to have many on the edge of their seat and I'm sure many arguments will follow given this set up is to difference between unseasonable cold and warm south westerlies returning. Fun times ahead. Protective wear at the ready. Time to venture back Posted Image

Hi John, I'm ok thanks and hope you are?  I will stick to our regional thread, it's been the best spring and summer on here because of all the regulars keeping it alive in what had traditionally been a quiet time, so well done to everyone who has stuck at it.  I am looking forward to the numbers swelling over the winter but then, when the tide goes out around Easter time, the same rocks will be back on view (just that some of us will have yet more barnacles!)
