I always look forward to it. Storms Snow Gales what more do you want. The only thing I hate are grey skies and no action. Oh and freezing rain.

I'm looking forward to a hopefully cold and snowy winter and dreading a mild winter in the same way I look forward to a hot and sunny summer.

TBH I Don't care

After so many near misses last year I have lost all confidence in the white stuff......when I actually see it falling

and there is more than a pathetic 5cm covering then I may start to take notice

I'm looking forward to what it may bring but, I'm not wishing time away to get there.

Great comment and so true!

Me too! Though I wouldn't mind 10 metre-deep snowdrifts in January!

That would just about finish me off as I need my dairy supplies to get through.

I never look forward to winter, but there are aspects of it that i do like, like doing the Christmas Shopping on a cold, calm and frosty day with the festive feeling all around. And the sunsets after a cold and bright day in December with the mist hanging over the fields. December is the month when i most welcome winter as it seems most appropriate in the run up to Christmas. As for snow, i wouldnt feel let down is we didnt get any at all. I doesnt really thrill me but i would welcome a northerly for 3/4 days bringing some snow showers to the east coast before it clears off. The main thing i wish for in winter is sunshine which is great regardless of the temperature. Bitter, biting, dull easterlies are an absoulte no.

3c and drizzle for 3 months, forum would go into melt down ??

Or 14c on Christmas day ??

My prediction based on the evidence so far

It will trend towards less day light up to the 3rd week December then gradual trend to more daylight there after

I would like it to be  average to mild overall, purely to help people with their heating bills.

A few record breaking spells of snow and cold in between.

Something for everyone - A suny winter with cold snaps -  A bit of fog, a few sharp frosts with sunny days, a white christmas, a new years storm and an early warm spring.

What did I miss?

I don't care what Winter brings, as long as it's not mild crap. The bitter, cloudy easterlies that we got from February through to April that everyone seemed to hate was something I loved. Almost non-stop cloudcover, feeling permanently dark, with a constant chill in the air, and the majority of precipitation falling as snow, which even if it didn't settle pleased me just to see it falling so frequently. It's relentlessness was so awesome.

As long as we don't end up with constant cold, benign setups with grey skies for days on end. Posted Image

I agree with the sunshine part. A Christmas card 2010 run up to Christmas and then another blast of winter in Jan (2010) or early Feb (2009) then a March 2012 and April 2011.

I would say I am more of a summer person than winter person to be honest but I love the thrill of the cold chase on here. I think the netweather model thread actually helps get me through winter with all the dramas that unfold - it's like a meteorological soap opera!
