It's looking good down there. I wonder if it will survive as far as the Midlands as I may take a trip out to intercept if it does.

Frequent blue lightning to my south west, anvil lighting up several times a minute.

yep, I'm just to the south of Swindon yet can see lightning reflecting off clear skies overhead every few seconds....these flashes are from the storms near Ilminster, impressive considering these storms are over 60 miles away!

I would try to be enthusiastic but even the earlier drizzle didn't fire me up! About 2mm in the rain gauge.....

It created at around 1145pm now 40-50 mile (est) wide rounded cell seen on the sat (cloud top) quite impressive! The Dorset thunderstorms looks like they are heading north/north east

Ok so I got out of bed and now standing outside in shorts and t-shirt. Confirming lightning.

If anything, GFS and NAE show things intensifying upon pushing N/NE across E Wales/Midlands/N England. We'll see.

Certainly a nice surprise. The main electrical activity seems to be following a more N/NE track but at the same time widening.

Main action heading up to Bristol it seems looking at sat, the east edge away from this could plume up some cells for SE side I think, little hints of this on the satellite

It has been flashing here constantly, every 10 seconds for the past 45 minutes. My lightning detector is going crazy! Last time i saw this much intra-cloud lightning was back in 2005, that was when i had the last direct-hit storm. There's been some strong gusts of wind but only light rain though.

I have occasional lightning to my west and more frequent lightning to my east, pity my window looks further west..

Well that was the mother of all storms, not seen a storm with lighting of that frequency for a few years!
