Saw a couple of distant flashes to the south and I'm north if London in Stevenage. Must be very elevated!

Yes tim, sferics making inroads onto mainland now and have picked up in the last ten minutes(two frames)

whilst up here it is looking like a damp paper towel unless something gets going in the SW.

Indeed..to think that a stretch of water, makes all the difference between what seems dozens of thunderstorms and hardly any? N France has been in firing line since Spring. As regular as clockwork and usually pretty impressive, they just keep on coming.

Some of us even reduced to watching their webcams! Posted Image

I have to admit to being one of them lol. Kent not doing too bad right now, a lot of sferics as the French storm does seem to have taken the Kent clipper route.

I don't know where all this torrential thundery rain being shown on the BBC/Met Office forecasts is going to come from. Other than one or two heavy showers amongst a mass of light to moderate rain, there is very little in the channel to the west of about Brighton.

Unfortunately I think your gut may be right. It would be nice to see something, especially so late in the year but as you say there was always the 23rd July, and for me the 2nd August was pretty special too.

Ah, better than nothing anyway. For a spectacular show like the 23rd, I would rather have just that, than say 10 typical flash and fart showers.

Next year I am hoping for a more higher frequency of the action we saw in July, that would be terrific.

They are intensifying now too. Okay so maybe this is the beginnings of the torrential downpours. Not sure about thunderstorms though, I think the best chance of that is reserved for the SE.

OMG!!!!!! BLEEEEEEEEEP!

Probably the second best storm since I was a child, the most intense lightning...... HUGE bangs.... Air Pops, Fires in the distance, lightning hitting buildings. I have never turned my computer off EVER and this storm made me do that, just incredible. I hope people got some footage of one of the best storm since 1994 in this area.

Seeing lightning flashes to my East now - pretty vivid even though it's on the coast. Also hearing distant rumbles.
