Well didn't get much warmth into the place last night so fire on this morning. Does feel odd putting on some heat when its 15.5c outside but it ain't sunny this morning and the house actually feels colder than outside - what else can ya do?

When I get my top floor apartment in Berlin with heating costs included a whole different world lies ahead!

not a chance in hell i still have the windows open on a night while watching tv then while in bed mindue the wife moans shes cold lol, its far to early in the year and the weather is still mildish imo so its a waste of gas and money, temps need to fall by another 10 degrees before i will start to think about it

Yes last year it was late Aug the central heating made an appearance - this year not at all yet. Just the little gas fire to take the edge off. Much better!

If I'm in a jumper... she's in hat, gloves, scarf and 3 jumpers... plus she's not happy! She's off back to Germany tomorrow anyway while I finish up here and move over myself so once I've sunk some warmth back into the building again I probably won't need it again for a while. It's just with no one here for 6 days everything felt cold to the touch with a damp feel to things so it needed a blast!

Just look forward to the heat from German c heating systems Nick, and to watching the snow from the warmth with the odd walk out in it and a warm home to go back to!

Our house starts to feel a bit damp with no heat on now that the sun has so little power. But it does feel too warm with heating on so just have it working for an hour or so every 2 or 3 days.

Indoor temp has risen half a degree to 18.6c, is it really October? fantastic! and looks like things will not drop in a while Posted Image Posted Image I do wonder if the people on here who love cold and snow actually pay their own gas/electric bill? because let's face it heating costs are not cheap these days.

Yeah, I do. Who else is going to pay for it? My heating is used a lot outside of summer; I've already used it multiple times. I like to feel warm indoors, so if I feel chilly, I pop the heating on. I have nothing to prove to anyone. 18C is not warm enough for me indoors.

and even if you hate cold and snow you still have to pay the heating bills anyway so you may as well be happy when its snows

Not here, we don't really get 16c mins in October where I live. This is far from normal.

The heating hasn't been on since a cold morning back at start of September here! Rather balmy again with windows wide open.

its getting hotter still.

Today 24C in my room during the night and only down to 22.9C right now at 4.42am with the front door wide open.

People putting heating on at 16C to me seems like you just wimps, 16C isnt cold.  No wonder people seem to adore the july drought so much, if they cold at 16C.

I still believe again is down to this mild weather, there is no air movement whatsoever outside, not even a breeze.

In 2011 that year when had indian summer I didnt use heating until december.

I bet if I walked into your houses I would be very uncomfortable with the heat.  I have been like that in a few houses  have visited where people live with extreme heating.

Ye - I work damn hard and pay for everything consumed in this vast house. The accompanying vast bills during really cold spells are a small price to pay.Don't let anyone kid you otherwise - the best things in life are not free.

We could easily argue the counter point and claim you're a wimp for thinking temps in the low 20s are in some way 'hot' when in fact they're not in the slightest! 16c isn't comfortable indoor sitting temperature - sure there are some who sleep with the window open at -4c or sit in their shorts at 5c (and claim to be 'hard' because of it!) but the for the majority of folk temps in the low 20s are the most comfortable.

Go into any pub, restaurant, shop or office - are they unheated at 16c? No they are not! If so customers would leave... No - almost all are in the 19-22c range, perhaps higher on hot days.

I'm not saying you're wrong for liking it cooler - each to their own - but accusing the majority of people of being 'wimps' for normal behaviour is a little odd!

Don't put your heating on then if your gonna whinge about the costs. Just put a extra jumper on or 2. Central heating isn't a basic human right, your not gonna die if you don't put it on. Millions of people around the globe seem to survive without it even in very cold climates.

Jeez what is it with people whingeing about gas and electic prices it's like you think you should have it for free or something.

Haha don't worry yourself bud the cold will come eventually even though you sound frustrated. But the good thing is we live in a country that will NEVER be very cold for long - even in December 2010 we had a mild spell in the month. The milder weather will always reign supreme here thank fully thanks to that BIG ocean to the west. Posted Image Posted Image

Posted Image Why do you make it out to be some mild vs cold thing?. Very weird!!. Personally i couldnt give a rats bottom about peoples weather preferences, and you shouldn't  worry urself about mine either Posted Image

Don't worry I don't because most of us know that mild weather is far more dominant over cold in this country and I can't see that changing unless this island suddenly crashes hundreds of miles into Europe. Posted Image

But unfortunately for you, it isn't mild enough to make heating unnecessary or to allow outdoor activities year-round, so while I can rest in peace knowing snow will fall eventually (it always does), you have to contend with the fact that winter is coming and you won't be happy until March while you endlessly complain about how chilly, damp and dark it is (typical UK winter fare). Sucks to be you LOL!

With this balmy weather set to continue for the forseeable, my aim of getting to November before our gas ch has to be switched on, is looking more realistic rather than fantasy thinking.

Nice!
