I'm tempted, 14.2 degrees in the house this morning, not that cold granted, but you feel it getting out of a warm bed. Maybe half an hour before I get up....

12.5C here, bedroom window is still open. It was nice to walk home with a breeze at 13C (in t shirt and shorts of course).

I need to circulate the heat from mission control to the rest of the house. Pity warm air doesn't sink.

Been out all evening and returned to 17c house so cranking up the fire to max to heat it quick. Otherwise it'll be a very chilly night in bed!

40 mins in we've gained 0.7c... hmmmmmmmmmmm....

Ours went on for an hour this morning as the house dropped to 17.5C. Its pretty unusual to have it on this early as its a warm house but three days of maxes below 15C and high winds have sucked the heat out.

Aside from cost perhaps, I cant understand the mentality of 'it won't be going on until such date'. If its cold enough then it goes on in our house.

Finally tapped out last night while watching football and wife and kids were in bed.

Would have put the fire normally but we got rid of it earlier this year to make way for a new tv Posted Image

But it soon warmed up and was off in less than a hour.

Lets see if I can resist tonight Posted Image

It's 13c in my bedroom, heating is now on and will stay on unless we get an Indian Summer. I live in hope. If I don't have the heating on now the house gets really damp and chilled ( old house, no insulation ), so I don't grudge the heating oil one bit.

Having a very primitive system only controlled by radiator thermostats, the act of 'turning on our heating' isn't quite possible as such (although we can of course turn it up).  Upgrading to anything more modern would require some serious work since the installers (about 30 years ago) kindly put the junction where the hot water cylinder is connected to the system in a perfectly accessible place...under the floor below the hot water cylinder Posted Image.

We usually set the radiator thermostats to about 16 deg C in summer and 20 in winter, and haven't turned them up yet.  We've just started to notice our radiators getting warm occasionally in the early morning.

A real chilly start in our house this morning - got up to 16.6c in the living room. I can cope with that for the short bed to shower to out the door but for sure the fire will be going on when I get in - perhaps even the central heating as the fire will take forever to heat it up from such a low value.

And no I don't agree with "I wait till October the 14th for my heating" blah blah... it all goes on & off when its cold!

Still haven't touched it.  Got a multi-fuel stove. Nothing like a log fire!!! But, I'm sure it won't be long before we put it on for an hour in the mornings and early evening.
