Thanks for the updates John!

I'm off to Maidstone tomorrow staying at the event organiser( my mate) for the Balloon side of the Southern Airshow 2013 at Headcorn Aerodrome. We are hoping to go ballooning tomorrow afternoon before the rain and again on Sat late afternoon, Sunday morning looks the best before the rain and wind sweeps in!

Might see some of you there?

Evening all. Well a pretty rubbish day here until about 4.30. Been grey and cloudy most of the day, and as home time loomed the clouds broke, and we had some sunshine and blue skies. Must say though, that dispute the gloom, it felt pretty warm today. Didn't take any temp readings, but I would hazard a guess at the very high teens, low 20s. Current temp 18c. Look forward to your updates later JP, if I can stay awake 😴very tired after my run tonight.

It's all kicking off on the model thread, polar highs, hurricanes being steered towards the uk. Going to be chaos and it's only September!!!

Thats pretty standard winter fare. Only a few months to early 😃. Any toys been thrown around yet? I think I'm going to stay in the safety of this thread for the time being 😉

Cheers JP. I've eaten my dinner and had a energy drink now (whoops beer) buts its high in sugar which after running is good for you ( my excuse) so hopefully I will be up to see your updates. Look forward to them mate, your doing a great job. Edited by LeighD

Evening peeps.

Just back from a stroll to the next village, had dinner there with my parents and spent the rest of the evening (after keeping my one year old neice entertained for a while first) out at the stables and paddock feeding the geese, horses and pony, was asked if they should be rugged up, and I was sure that it is way too warm still for that and should be dry till the morning anyway.  Oh how I miss my rural childhood.

I think Humberto wants to join in the Atlantic fun, I expect mega autumn and late summer runs until the models correctly guess where it's going to go. Which will mean model thread war Posted Image

monday

a strong north west wind

at present it looks like showers rattling through rather than sustained rain

i would call a chance of the odd rumble anglia and tod area but a tad too far for specifics

temps around 14 degrees

but will not feel it in the wind

120 is the tricky one

will post when ready

tuesday

now this is the one that concerns me

we have a low to our north and high pressure to our east

now the low below ireland is the one way out in the atlantic on the fax before

this says to me it must be caught up in the jet stream

as it moves further east it could really tighten up the isobars and cause some very strong winds

also the risk of some very high rainfall over a short period of time is likely so flash flooding is a risk as well

a long way out but i am watching this carefully as could be a nasty little bugger

temps probably would be warmer than of late but not important

Morning peeps.

Wet and warm this morning. No perceptible sun but it must be up there somewhere as there is a smidgen of daylight in the gloom, so it hasn't imploded in a huge and horrible Armageddon scenario overnight (which means I still have to pay the utility bills this month )

I wonder if tedious weather is what wiped out the dinosaurs? Perhaps it was boredom and depression that did for them in the end?

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
