September forecasts -- 2013 C.E.T. Competition

Recommended Posts

Well done this week to Weather History, who got it spot on, and takes the lead in the Seasonal comp.

Lincoln Snowstorm DR(S)NO godber were 0.1c out , and are 2nd,3rd and 4th in the Seasonal comp respectively.

Overall, March Blizzard stays in the lead Weather-history moves up to 2nd from 3rd, with mulzy back to 3rd from 2nd. Certainly any of these 3 can win the overall comp this year.

Figures in usual format.

Razor thin margins at the top, less than 20 points currently separate the podium places. Gunna go right down to the wire methinks!

Crikey I got one right. Surprised that I was the only one who went for that value.

You've got two spot on, WH!*Edit*: Just checked the October entries, interestingly both Mulzy and WH have gone for 11.1C, me 10.3C. October could be make or break time. Edited by March Blizzard

Why not e mail and ask politely why this occurred, I am sure you will get an honest answer. Carping about it is helping no one.

I have already. The message was passed on to the Hadley Centre, and they should be getting back to me in a few days.

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
