I think too many people read what they wanted to read JohnPosted Image  There were enough caveats mentioned by enough people to provide a realistic enough interpretationPosted Image

I agree with that wholeheartedlyPosted Image . Its a pity though - as someone who is no expert at all, but likes trying to learn, that is the reason I post regularly in there

Local BBC forecast has got possibly 30C for places in the London area tomorrow, wet for Saturday and a mix of sunshine and cloud Sunday and Monday.

National forecast has 26 for London, heavy rain including thundery stuff for Saturday and then quiet for Sunday and Monday.

Don't they work from the same data?

hi cp

saw that as well

i would run with the local forecast as i would expect a better local knowledge

although not sure why so different Posted ImagePosted Image

A rather disappointing day in the SE today especially in London with on and off rain today on my visit there. Sun broke through a little later. Didnt stop a good day out though. Weather was far better at home though.

not looking to bad

just a shame about the wind direction

GFS looks a little better

Posted Image

Less of a north easterly as the high collapses over us.

Probably have low pressure over us tomorrow for this time given it's the GFS Posted Image

Does it? Doesnt appear to be any real thundery potential - just a few heavy bursts of rain.

I found a Olive coloured newt on one of the outdoor dogs beds which is 3/4 metres away from our natural pond (we have a natural tad polepond and a large elevated wooden pond), I picked it up and it didn't move much and was pretty lifeless all though I could see its eyes open so I decided to wet my hands and pick it up and put it in the tadpole pond as it felt dry and was totally exposed to animals and the surroundings. Was putting it in the water the right move? When I put it back in it didn't move much and it sank straight down. I now feel like it might drown? I now feel really bad. Posted Image

Heres a picture of it in my hand.

Morning all

Off to the test match today, been invited to a box so am hoping it's not full of people only there for the hospitality and that they are actually interested in the cricket, otherwise I'll be the only one watching the game! Weather looks like it will be pretty warm later. BBC breakfast forecast is suggesting some very heavy showers tonight and then tomorrow is looking pretty grim. Will West be best next week? As we are off to North Pembrokeshire on Sunday for a week, on this occasion for purely selfish reasons I hope so!

Have a good day.

Just had a look at all this on the convective thread and I have to say I'm not seeing anything but the rain for tomorrow currently (but a lot of that)

The East of our region will probably float away into the North Sea:

August Bank Holiday getaway begins in torrential rain... but the sun will shine with temperatures hitting 27C say forecasters

[*]Friday expected to be hottest day then cooler thereafter

[*]Best temperatures to be found in the South East

[*]At least 16million drivers will be on Britain's roads over holiday weekend

The August Bank Holiday is kicking off with a somewhat soggier start than first expected - with torrential rain hitting late on Friday and throughout Saturday.  But Britain's sizzling summer is set for one final flourish on Sunday, as temperatures hit a predicted 27 degrees in the South East.

For those staying at home the best of the weather is likely be in south east England, where temperatures could reach as high as 27C (81F) on Friday before dipping to around 22C (72F) for the rest of the long weekend. Other areas may get showers or longer periods of rain. Motoring and traffic organisations forecast that Friday will be the busiest day on the roads, with the AA reckoning as many as 16 million drivers will be out over the holiday period.
