Where are you in Stafford? weeping cross area is flooded, never known flooding on roads, between weeping cross and Wildwood, the heavens opened while I was in tenpin, I heard

Really? I noticed the Sow was flooded onto the plains yesterday, over by the Canal. I live fairly Central, so I missed the main punch last night.

Ahh back to the business as usual today, thick low cloud/fog while it's sunny down the road, if anything it's got thicker through the morning.

Typically the West Midlands looks to be flirting between the Rain and Wind advisories.. *sigh*

Personally, I hope it's as rough as sand paper to a smooth surface. The wilder, wetter and windier the better!

Very true! More recent models suggesting a slightly more Northern track... Lets just hope that central Low ends up somewhere between Manchester and the Borders... that would offer the Midlands something interesting :D

Agreed, bar perhaps the windy part - many of the trees are still just about in leaf, which of course makes them more prone to being uprooted in strong winds. I hate the sight of fallen trees after a big storm, the only negative to that type of weather really.

hope it misses altogether or arrives at night, both looking very unlikely

Why? Snow causes more problems than wind/rain ever could and yet you like myself and others pine for that in the winter.

Surely some wild weather is better than endless days of mild boring drivel? If it's sunny it won't be warm enough to do much out doors and if it's cloudy it's boring.

Precisely, extreme heat and cold/snow can cause more issues than something like wind/rain can do in my experience.

Bring it on, heaviest of the winds here please.

We'll go right through the middle and the centre of the storm will be dead quiet.

I hope so tbh, our polly tunnels at work couldn't stand up to a severe gale.

Still a long way to go yet ! In my experience lows like these seem to have minds of there own, It could go north, It could go south! Look what happen in 1987

the night before they were say it was heading for northern france and we all know what happen with that onePosted Image

But looking at the (Ensemble GEFS members) some are going for the southern track but theres still quite a few going for more of a northern track.

Heres (perturbation 19) to give you some idea of where this storm could go>>>>> an interesting few days to come in model watching Posted Image

Imagine something like this occurring on Halloween - the strong winds could almost fool you into thinking there were an army of ghost haunting your town/village/etc (he hee).

And it looks like the charts are once again battling out the truth. The MO aren't taking any chances and have surprisingly extended the Wind warnings a lot further North.. so I guess that's something! Each output is getting more confident.. so think weekend will be an interesting one to watch! :D

The wind has really picked up here over the past hour or so.

Good, the more leaves that are blown off the trees prior to Monday the better!

Was pretty pleasant at times earlier, maxed at 17.7c so rather nice! some heavy showers after 4pm though and feeling fresher now.

Monday's storm will end up being a breeze and 4mm of rain in the end as always.
