Cloud has returned here after a very short sunny spell, still dry though, which is good as I have washing out drying on the line.

18.6oc out in the shed now, sun is trying to burn through the cloud, going to take a stroll out later after work and visit my folks as it is still warm and dry.

 

Just been sorting out art stuff and came across some pictures my late grandfather had done ( I inherited his stuff ), he was getting really good too.

Good afternoon from a mostly cloudy Croydon but being a very cosmopolitan, vibrant place, we have shades of beige, grey and blue and I have to say rather more interesting than some of the skies being reported on, earlier.

Did you manage to sort out her bridesmaid dress ok in the end Jan?

Well the sun finally came out for my afternoon walk and the wind dropped too, was quite brisk for a while, now 19.5oC in the shed and calm.

Evening all. Quite a melancholy evening here in Ippy. You know......very quiet, no wind, lots of dove grey cloud and just the haunting cries of the gulls for company. It reminds me of long ago evenings in Scarborough.

Know the fella in the dry cleaners, so bleated emergency and he fiddled and steamed and brushed and voila!, one perfect dress.

 

No charge either, so fantabulous!

Damn this stratus stuff, just covers the whole uk giving relentless cloudy conditions.

Good signs of anticyclonic weather taking over in the last third of the month with the ECM starting to back the GFS idea.

I'm pretty shocked that the GFS which during the winter I've slated over and over might have correctly forecast something 15 days away and trumped the metoffice's own models.

Try a spot of stargazing - hopefully there will be some clear sky's perfect for seeing the Perseids meteor shower

a weaker north westerly flow

 

temps around 18-20 degrees

 

some light showers north of the region clearing am

 

sunny for most areas then until late pm then some heavy showers moving in from the west

that low will cause the models a big headache so no point looking any further ahead

One thing I've noticed this week is how chilly it gets in the early evenings now. Even if the sun's still shining there's a definite end of summer feel about the day... I'm really quite looking forward to autumn and winter now, but then I always do.
