A shower passed to the side of here with a couple of distant rumbles of thunder, but the sun is about to reappear now and the little rain there was barely wet the groundPosted Image  The shield still remains mostly intact this summer with just the baby boomlettes of the other weekendPosted Image

Back to the grey and dampness of this morning here but the bit in the middle was okay Posted Image

Evening all, very heavy rainfall here for the last couple of hours, the heaviest I have seen for a very long time and it's not over yet. The temperature dipped from 23 to 17c in that time. Sadly no firweworks with it though.

Sorry to hear about your injury Ali, hope it's not serious. Posted Image

Clacton in Essex and Great Yarmouth in Norfolk are among the seaside towns identified in this report....  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23549534

Declining seaside towns in parts of the UK are stuck in a cycle of poverty, a think tank has warned.

The Centre for Social Justice - set up by Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith - said some towns were suffering "severe social breakdown".

They were also becoming "dumping grounds" for vulnerable people such as children in care and ex-offenders.

This has been "further depressing the desirability of such areas and so perpetuating the cycle", it said.

So the Tories set up a report into a problem they are 50% responsible for. Wonder how much this report cost to state the flaming obvious Posted Image

Heh....

I've just driven home through some torrential stuff. Was expecting a flash of lightning, but nothing yet. :)

22C here, humid, very dark and moderate to heavy rain has just started. Did look a little stormy as it approached. Lights ho!

My Aussies are at DefCon 3, mind you they seem to do that at the moment as any heavy rain has been accompanied by loud noises and flashy things....

Evening all. It's as black as night in Ippy and throwing it down. Signal keeps going off on Sky but no thunder or lightning.

Just got back from Norwich and traffic jams on A12/14 are appalling.

No thunder but that was an impressive rain event here, a constant deluge for 3 hours. It's finally cleared through to allow a glimpse of late evening sunshine.

Suppose I should put this in the Midlands thread really, but for those who haven't seen it, here's a link to a pretty good photo:

Fantastic cloud formations here in Biggin. Wish I had a good enough camera to catch them on. Torrential down pour at about 6pm, wonderful to see! Would have loved a few rumbles too though ;-)!
