These last few cells are quite active, had some close strikes here!

Haven't seen many CG strikes seem to be mainly high CC

There's a sneaky little shower heading for you now

Nope, it's gone  --  that's a very effective shield you have there

Pretty impressive thundery spell, near Braintree, for a couple of hours this morning. Very large raindrops, with cloud to earth lightning etc. As soon as I started drving from home, I thought it looked very promising.

Way better than local BBC forecast predicted tbh :)

More like Norwich has turned it's storm magnet on, almost a never ending line of storms heading that way

Who know's what might pop up, along the convection line, later this afternoon? I mean, when I went to be last night, there was virtually no talk of possible storms at all...Posted Image

Looks as though most are actually west of Norwich, as they are tracking NNE, they then pass over me if you zoom to NR11 7PD you'll see what I mean.

Talking with the wife a little while ago, neither of us can remember when we had thunder for more than a couple of hours in duration  --  years ago anyway

Waht amazed me was the MetO took the warnings down, that's a big fail for them

Yep, haven't had a spell of weather like this for yonks!  Look like the last bits and pieces are moving though here, still plenty of electrical activity although the area they cover has shrunk considerably

EDIT. - Size isn't everything, the thunder's still pretty loud! :D

I just wonder how much "stuff" you have on your hard drive.....

Very little, it's all mostly hot linked!

Apart from overnight, things convectively seem to be calming down for a few days for us:

Even though it's some 10 degrees less than this time yesterday, still feels awfully humid this afternoon - the heavy rain moving through this morning probably adding to the moisture content of the air. Cold front still just to the west of our region looking at 12 noon analysis, will it pass through and introduce fresher conditions with a whimper?

There seems to be mid-altitude convection going on just to the south of here?? Could be interesting?

Clouded over here, few spots of rain. Seems to be some activity running up the coast. Doesn't look anything special yet.

Seems like the one coming out of the channel island are heading more towards Portsmouth Posted Image

You would have thought anyone in Poole, Portsmouth or on the IOW would see that lot coming towards them but it's very quiet in the SW & Central Southern thread ...... unless they are just keeping schtum about it at this stage  Posted Image
