Sun is out now and the ground is drying very quickly. Some big towers to the West ish!! That was wonderful and quite unexpected really.

Well done and thank you weather gods. :)

Am I correct in thinking that morning storms are not that common early on in the season, but are more probable in August?

Another storm just sprang up here in Brentwood, seemed to come from nowhere. Continuous thunder and impressive CG lightning!

Lovely storm, constant thunder, just gone past - just this side of Lowestoft, I think...

Nice unexpected storm to start off the day here. Had some torrential rain, plenty of thunder and lightning too. Not quite sure if I've ever seen raindrops as big as the ones I saw this morning.

It always seems as though we get the best storms when we don't really expect them as much. I was only expecting some 'standard' showers this morning.

I'm glad I've finally got a storm this year after not getting one on July 23rd, although I obviously wouldn't complain if there were more in the coming weeks. Posted Image

Huge storm pushing up from the south over Lowestoft. It's a very active cell, lots of lightning within it! About time we saw some of the action :D

Well that's another miss, nothing more than light rain here and watching in envy the chaos further down the coast.

That storm changed course at the last minute to yet again evade great yarmouth.

Congrats to Lowestoft though.

Congrats to Lowestoft though.

It's saving it for later when you'll get a Humdinger

Lot of action here, not much in the way of lightning to be seen though, must be too close to it :D Keep losing INterweb and mobile phone though...

Sorry to hear that CS. It was a pretty close call for you guys though, must have only been a couple of miles in it! Hopefully August will bring a hefty storm to both Lowestoft and Yarmouth for once!

It's a good thing that's just off shore :D  Should be able to get some good pics though. If I wasn't nursemaiding my dogsters I'd have headed out there about 10am!

Has he tried jumping in your lap yet? Mine's panting, rolling his eyes with his head glued to my side.

Hope we don't get caught out for their lunchtime walk again - he ran away and jumped into a neighbour's car just as she was going shopping and wouldn't get out so we had to go and collect him.

Edit: Uh-oh - he's trying to climb into my lap - knew he would. Labrador, large, black. Can't type.

haha hope not mines a big greyhound!!

put the tele up louder seems to have helped, hes watching peppa pig!

Morning all - Cracking start to the day here, and I actually mean Cracking.

Woke up at 6am to bright blue skies, and sunshine. Thought 6am was to early, so went back to bed... Since about 7am right up to down we have had thunder every 4 or so minutes... Interspersed with heavy rain and even some sunshine. Wished I had my camera with me, as I have seen some amazing cloud structures.

Good day all...

It was a cracking start to the day here too...but after a big rumble first thing (which was very nice to wake up to) it was just our breakfast eggs that cracked....

Norfolk and Suffolk generally do better in August than other months, K  - at least from my experience :)  Still got more on the way here, another hour or so at least....

Here comes the next one, raining heavily again with the thunder rattling in the distance.  From the Radar I'd say the thunder is travelling 10-14 miles from the west

These last few cells are quite active, had some close strikes here!
