I first went to an airshow, as a very young child, in Southend. I even saw the Red Arrows.

Bored stiff as a six year old and have never been interested since. The Clacton Air Show has happened most years in the meantime, which has mostly been within 10 miles of where I've lived - I've never been. Still, whatever floats your boat (and lots of people go and enjoy) - it's just not for me. :)

A long way to go before this years shows start but this one is going to be pretty awsome, the largest formation of ww2 fighters to take to the skies on Kent on August 18th to celebrate the 75th anniv of the Battle of Britain:

Good biannual. show in Swansea. Show is over the bay, you can watch from the prom/beach and due to the steep topography most of the city, last one had a several 100,000s attend. Two days and free.

Stitch and the team have been a highlight over the last few UK shows. :(

Not an air show per se, but I know have a few members up in Lincs - looks like Donna Nook will be very active over the next couple of days, a number of A-10s from Germany are over into Lakenheath and then running up to the range for exercises. Could be a corking opportunity for pictures (and loud cannons if you like those....)

Duxford VE celebration air show is this coming weekend, with a selection of warbirds and some louder contemporary bits. Hoping that the high pressure builds in time and we have some beautiful skies for it.

I suppose they need to tie in VE, with a Bank Holiday weekend.

I've not been to one since childhood either, but I do enjoy watching planes fly, always look up. I saw the spit fire and hurricane flying before the Dunkirk fly over. They practised out to sea over here, went for a walk on the pier and they flew over. Loved it.

Anyone catch XH558 on her tour yesterday? We're heading down to Southend airport to see her fly past our local Vulcan. Hoping this cloud dissipates though...

It rained, but she still turned out!

Very poignant - the crowd at Southend were silent as she approached- must admit to being a bit choked up at the end!

I didn't see any of the tour, hoped for a distant view from MK, but the old bird was too far West.

My family also went to Southend and said it was emotional.

All I got to see was a nice clip on YouTube.

Do you think it is emotional as we all know it's the final year?

Got a few good pics of XH558 at Lyme Park this weekend, with extensive views across Manchester allowing to see her fly-over Barton, and wing-roll over Manchester beforehand.

Flew directly over my house and luckily I'd just read where and when it would be approaching that morning. My daughter text me and asked what it was when I told her and why it was flying over she said how sad it would be to not have a Vulcan still flying. Hopefully of the 21 left worldwide it might fly again. There's a grounded Vulcan at Sunderlands small aircraft museum although it looks well looked after it probably has 0% chance of ever flying again.

Yes I went to see the Vulcan, I knew it was due to fly past Wattisham. Wanted to get to just north of the base but didn't have time so ended up going to another place I know, a bit further away. But then I saw it, banking slightly as it made its turn towards the north towards Norwich/Cambridge. So pleased to have seen it. I am determined to see it again this year on display, and have bought tickets to Headcorn in Kent for their show in August. Cheap tickets too, much cheaper than Duxford and one of the more local venues for a display, from my location. Really hope the weather plays fair. Here are some far away pics, I don't have a good enough zoom for this, but at least it shows her overflying Wattisham, for the record.

Im going RIAT on Saturday. Cant wait, its always brilliant. Completely sold out both days this year too. Must be the final Vulcan year pulling in the crowds, especially as it didnt make it there last year!

The weather looks like being really good too. About 20c with a breeze and a bit of cloud :D

It's that time of year again! Who's heading to Fairford next weekend? Have you seen the very exciting arrivals this week? I'm taking our one year old, so we are just going for the day, (Sunday) but he's a seasoned airshow attendee, we went to several last year with him :)

We had our Air show in Weston-super-Mare on 18th and 19th June. I went popped down the seafront on the Saturday (18th). I didn't really get many pictures because just like when you're try to take a picture of the moon, an iPhone is naff at doing so - oh and because the breeze was cold coming it, my phone shut off at around 45% battery. *grumbles*

All I got (image wise) is the initial fly over and a bit of the Red Arrows playing around. I really need to invest in a proper 'real' camera. :/
