Beautiful!! ...hope to repeat the usual Austria Pilgrimage in February.

Booked up and clinging on to hope that Covid won't stop me and my merry band from enjoying a week on the slopes - even if dancing on the tables is a non-runner.

What is the thinking in Austria re the prospects for the upcoming season?  - From both a covid/will we open perspective and weather/snowfall.

Hi ,Where are you booked to go ? Yes, its a worry, hopefully ski season starts on time but will defo be different this season. Quite a lot of restrictions in place for a safety aspect. No Apre of the kind I like but will have to grin and bear it. Its a means to an end. Not expecting the numbers this season  but the slopes could be quiet . Snow cannons in full blast this evening. Maybe be late season will be a good bet if they find a successful  vaccination.

Saalbach and Hinterglemm again this year. Ok re more restricted apres (mornings will probably feel a bit less painfull and confusing!!) and masks on lifts etc.

I suppose the biggest issue for is getting there (and back again).. into Munich and then drive down to Saalbach.

Great news for us if some of the mountain restaurants are a bit quieter and less rushed (Berggasthof Wildalpgatterl in Fieberbrunn is a big favourite!) ...if  not so good for the resort.

Hopefully we can all get through this season in an enjoyable and financially viable way and look forward to a fabulous and even more snowy 2021/22.

Always ski Austria (and NZ )...love it!

Man made snow to the fore this morning in full throttle production. The forecast snow missed the region yesterday and instead slipped to the south  giving some nice snowfalls to Slovenia and the NE Italian Alps.

Snow in copious amounts are still forecast over here by the end of the weekend and well into next week with low pressure getting established over  Northern Italy and air mass becoming cold and unstable over many parts of the Alpine Range.

Hello, yes we have just been put on alert for heavy snowfall into Sunday with 40-60 cm in resort and up to 80 cm in the higher Lungau Region. However, thats nothing compared to the Ost Tirol region which could get up to an astonishing 400cm of fresh snow. Its been snowing there already for the past 24 hours but as the trough deepens over the Southern Alps during the coming few days , so will the intensity of the snowfall at upper levels and possibly become dangerous.

Looks absolutely stunning-love looking at those type of pictures whilst the wait goes on and on for anything remotely looking like what you have in Austria here in Blighty!!Some parts of Austria have had incredible amounts of snow in last 48-72 hours along with Northern Italy.
