Absolutely stunning, I notice it's not as wintry looking as an earlier photo you posted, but still beautiful.

The summit of the snow covered peak in the back ground is around 2200m. The lake is 1350m. Still plenty of snow patches remaining at around 1800m.

At long last the sun and warmth makes an appearance for a couple of days here in the Eastern Alps. Not sure how long it will last though ?

Has been the best week of the summer so far. Heat building and the odd thunderstorm thrown in as well. Reached 33c in the valley and 23 c in the village this afternoon. Time for a few early evening beers after watching the Austrian crash out GP !

Will the weather next weekend do anything to differentiate this weekends GP to the re-run?

Looks sunny and warm again next weekend. Maybe , a cooler flow from the NE but a very warm spot this location on the sunny lee side of Eastern Alps.  Sure be a exiting race. Nice to see the British team get on the ( podium ) as so to speak.

Hope you're enjoying your good weather, having a cool and wet start to July here, hopefully it wont be a repeat of July 2019, where the North West had unprecedented amounts of rainfall, caused all sorts of chaos with flooding, which led to the crisis in Whaley Bridge when the dam of the reservoir became critically unsafe and the town was evacuated the beginning of August.  Seems like yesterday,  still time though for July to pick up.  Stay safe.

Yes, have noticed a worsening of the summer weather in Northwest England. I  hope the excessive rainfall totals ease for you. Seems to be an increasing trend for you guys in that region. The summer has arrived a bit later than normal over here but turning very warm or hot now. Hopefully, you should start to tap into some of the continental warmth, maybe next week ?

Quite a change from earlier today. Cold front pushing through brought rain and quite a drop in temp. Currently 5c with a brisk northerly. Yesterday 33 c in the valley and now only 11c.

@NorthernlightsFirst meadow cut of winter fodder saved. A slow start to the growth season but heat and moisture know the name of the game.

Morning all, this latest winter overview chart from GFS produces possibly one of the coldest starts to October ever over the British Isles with sub zero 850mb temps right across the Islands. Great synoptics if you like cold and early snow cover in the mountains with an enhanced deep Euro trough supported by strong Mid -Atlantic ridging to Greenland High and Siberian High.  The Canadian Model and Euros also seem to be heading towards a cold and unsettled start to October , but all still far to way out to be precise in the daily details but looks like thermals will have come out sooner rather than later!

Just a follow on from the above post, we have now been given the first snow warning of the season for next weekend. The snow portal service indicates widespread snowfall in many parts of the Alpine regions on Saturday. A series of cold fronts lowering the temps with the most active one on Saturday producing snowfall of 35cm plus in the Salzburgerland Region at 2300m with air temps down to freezing at around 1550m level. Summer to winter in one week.

Evening all, just a fresh update from our local snow portal service. The model now showing in our particular location 15 cm of fresh snow cover by 9am on Sunday morning after a series of cold fronts move into the Eastern Alps. Rain on Friday is expected to turn to snow at 2000m elevation with the snow line down to 1100m by Saturday morning. The fine mesh model that predicts really good snow forecasting depths provides best results from about 48 hours before the event, so maybe tomorrow we will have greater accuracy .  Hope to send you some snow scenes at weekend .

Ok , I do not expect scenes like the picture below taken on the local mountain last winter but this weekend looks like producing our first snowfall of the season.A  colder air mass will be digging into the Alps on Saturday morning with a new low circulation in the Gulf of Genoa. Always a good sign for enhanced precipitation in the Eastern Alps. The Northern Alps should see snowfall above 1300m by mid day Saturday, the Southern Alps less snow risk with a developing Nord Fohn. The latest fine mesh snow model has 9cm in the village at 12noon Saturday at 1350m asl  and a temp of -5c on the berg at 2200m. Lets see how accurate at the time . Getting excited.

Plenty of rain in the village at the moment. Temp currently 4c.   Snow settling now further up the mountain at around 1950m.
