Looking good for wide-spread snow in the Austrian mountains from Sunday! The weather website wetter.at predicts:

"the largest new snowfall (will be) in the Hohen Tauern mountain ranges - up to 60 centimeters by Tuesday."

Edit: Just spotted that wetter.at are reporting in a separate article that:

"In the winter of 2015/2016, the number of arrivals (+ 5%) and 68.5 million overnight stays (+ 4%) reached record levels...."

Well done Austria! And with plans to invest a further 700 million Euros in their lift systems, visitors numbers are surely set to continue growing.

Morning all. Katschberg just won best Ski resort for 80km and under. I am not surprised as the runs are just magical. Looking forward to the snowfall on Sunday. A few pictures of some of the pistes around the village.

Yes, a massive difference to this day last year. Current picture towards our part of the mountain this morning. Temp -5c and sunshine sparkling.

Hi Seaside 60, yes its stunning ok. I have been here since 2005 and probably the best I have seen it for Early/ Mid November. Lets hope it stays after a the next couple of days warm up but should freeze at night still. The Polar Front sinks again at weekend so should get a top up hopefully.

Morning, air flow out of Africa with have unusual high temps this morning. Already in Upper Salzburgerland , temps are +18c in some places and forecast this afternoon to reach+ 22c . Here in the village , massive snow melt going on with freezing level well above 2000 m presently. So looks like no Saturday ski-ing this weekend as planned.

Hard frost last night. Now the sun rising, a super day with deep blue sky and feeling warm. We need more snow though !

Morgen,another cloudless day. Mild in the sunshine after overnight light frost here at altitude, current temp +7c at 1650m asl. 20 min drive down into the valley, freezing fog and -7c. Still no sign of snowfall, runs open but limited to main pistes.

Morning all Wow what a morning. -20c vicious snow squalls and sunshine. Lower to middle runs have fresh powder snow. Mountain top storm bound and lifts closed for higher runs, -22c at 2250m but wind chill will make feel much colder.  Reminds of my days in The Lake Louise back bowls for severe cold affect. Love it.

Jo freilich endlich Winter! Here in Switzerland we had got the long missing snow, next week more to come.
